Can't rid of WSOD
« on: May 16, 2012, 06:42:51 pm »
Hello all! I'm a new Dingoo owner since 3 weeks and I've an unpleasant issue (and english :-[).
I bought my second-hand Dingoo and its previous owner told me that when the battery goes down, a WSOD appears. Simply charging the console, the problem should disappear. Since he told me this too late, I've tried to unbrick by myself the Dingoo but none of a huge number of unbricker tools worked for me. Since Dingux with dual boot was installed, I tried to re-install it but it didn't work. Both the procedures seems to run fine but the result is always the damn WSOD. Someone can help me please? Thank you in advance.

Edit: The unbrick tool creates all the folders into the root of my device, so I tried to move manually the firmware file on it. Restarted it holding "Down" and... nothing: WSOD again!!

So if I understand correctly, the SPL (dual-boot) installer image results in a WSOD after you send the commands to boot a tiny linux kernel that is supposed to install the SPL onto NAND?

I just don't know where the problem started, because according to the seller, the WSOD appears when the battery goes down. Then I tried before with the unbricker tool and than the dual boot installer. But I can't rid of this WSOD. Thank you. :'(

@zear  Sorry, I don't know if this answers to your question, but WSOD seems first caused by low battery. Then my attempts to unbrick before and reinstall Dingux then, probably generated a "most permanet" WSOD, that even SPL installer and unbricker tool can solve. (Sorry if I'm not so clear... )

By both you mean 2? Because there are 3 models of LCD screen.

Wow, this is a news for me. I tried this two: "ILI9325" and "ILI9331", because I never thought I need to know which lcd my dingoo had. Could you link me a guide where to find all 3 models of lcd? Thank you.

I tried the ILI 9338 and it didn't work...

BUT

just trying with the ILI 9331 (also from your package) and... It WORKED!!!
Thank you very much, I have appreciated your support.

PS: Just an OT question, if I can:  since I was afraid to be not able to unbrick my dongoo, I ordered one of this:

http://www.willgoo.com/yinlips-ydpg16-android23-retro-handheld-wif-p-196.html

and it will arrive in 2-3 days. In your expert's opinion, which console should I keep and which should be sold? Sorry for the OT and thank you again. Bye!! ;)

I'm not an expert, in Yinlips for sure ;) You should ask someone who own this console :)
