A freezing issue and a saving issue...
« on: December 31, 2009, 04:03:52 am »
I apologize in advance is this was answered somewhere else. I wasn't able to find an answer. I just got my Dingoo A-320 and it actually does a lot more than I expected when I payed for it.

However one issue is that when I hit select the game freezes when I'm using the SNES or GBA emulator. If I move the power switch to hold though it unfreezes and opens the continue, load state, save state menu. But then it freezes again and I'm stuck unless I power off the Dingoo. Also how am I supposed to use the select button in a game if it opens this continue, load state, save state menu?

This would not be so bad if it wasn't for the second issue... the normal save game feature in the games do not work. Do I need to insert an SD card to save games or am I missing something obvious. Please help! :)

Never heard of such issues before, select should do nothing, except the original game used the select button. Save states should be saved automatically to the internal memory of the Dingoo.
in the last 2 weeks, a new Dingoo revision appeared, that was originally not build for export. Can you provide us with some of the following informations about your Dingoo?

Is it a 2 or 4 GB Model?
Which Firmware is installed? You can check this in the System Setup Menu if you choose About
Each Dingoo has a serial number printed on the left side of the USB port, could you post this number?

Here is the information on my Dingoo:

It is a 4GB model.

I have the official 1.2 firmware installed

And there is no serial number by the USB port and I can't find one anywhere else.

Also if it helps I bought it at thinkgeek.com and it is the black model. I understand there is a difference between the lcd drivers for the black and white ones. Already had to de-brick it after trying different firmware.

I've had this problem since the beginning. I tried different firmware hoping it would fix it. Maybe I should try dingux? Not sure how to go about doing that though. I understand that's a linux operating system made specifically for these right?

Also, reloading the roms or trying new ones has not worked.

@dingoo-digital-usa

Have you seen Dingoos without a serial number yet, I thought they all have one. Maybe a new revision.

I've ordered 2 dingoos from thinkgeek and both are missing a serial #, I don't think it makes a difference. That sounds more like a hardware problem no? Maybe it got banged and the select button broke I dunno, is the button useless in every emulator and game?

I might be the only one but in-game saves, gba advance anyway, don't seem to work if I do a savestate "after" saving in-game. If I do a savestate "before" saving in-game its fine. You also need to exit the emulator for the save to apply.

No the select button isn't useless. It just opens the continue, save state, load state menu instead of doing what its supposed to do in the game.

I can't do save states at all because when I go to that menu it freezes and I have to reset the Dingoo. Also I can't exit the emulator for the same reason.
