What is wrong with the a380e?
« on: March 24, 2014, 09:48:34 pm »
Is it viable? I just a machine that plays gba/snes/genesis/gbc stuff well enough, will this do? is it worth 90 to $100?

so its not the real a380? Is it possible to even get a real one of those? What is the deal with the naming/numbering? I heard its just bascially a a320? but arent those good as well? Does it still have that issue where you can push more than one button at a time?

A better deal for around $60-70 is a Gemei A330. With a couple of homebrew emulator updates you have yourself a well made little handheld / multi-media player. Not as robust as an A320 or above but close enough for the price and covers those systems you mentioned as well as NeoGeo Arcade, Capcom System 1 and 2 games as well.
DA320, DTA330, DD/GA330, DMG (modded), MGB (modded), MGL, CGB (modded), GBA, GBA-SP (001 and 101 (custom) w/flashcarts), GB Micro, DS Lite, DSi (custom), 3DS, 3DS-XL (all  w/ flashcarts), PSP (modded), WonderSwan, NeoGeo Pocket Color...PS1, 2, 3 and 4...

is it just a better deal or is there something really wrong with the a380e? I wanted it for the form factor but the one you listed is actually really attractive as well. What little I read said the emulators werent up to snuff but it was from 2011, is it easy to update the firmware?

The fake Dingoo A-380 aka A-380e is a failed attempt to replace the real Dingoo A-380. It was released by people who don't have the faintest idea why someone wants to buy a real Dingoo A-380.

It's a stripped down Dingoo A-380 version to the point that it's no longer usable and it comes with a closed source firmware with some serious bugs that can't be fixed.

Another option is the Dingoo A330, the eBay seller toy_bar has them new for $92 USD, with the wireless controller for $112.99, as well as bundles including a 4GB miniSD with dingux installed, they even occasionally put one up for auction for $0.99 no reserve (like right now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dingoo-A330-Emulator-Game-Console-in-wireless-receivers-a320-a380-/251485778533?pt=Video_Games&hash=item3a8db87265 ).

It's a bit less powerful than the A380, but if you just want to play gba/snes/genesis/gbc it'll do fine.

The A380e device is not bad... we just need to find a way to update the emulators on it.... or use external ones (through the micro sd card).
