Maximum sd-card storage?
« on: July 16, 2011, 10:46:25 am »
Hi,

I just want to ask a simple question before I buy a (micro)sd card for my Dingoo I ordered:

What is the maximum size of microsd card a dingoo can handle (of course, when it's in a minisd card adaptor)?

I've read it's 16gb, but does it read then fast enough? I'm asking this because when I use a 8gb microsd card in my lg cookie phone to watch movies, the audio is out of sync. This does not happen when i use smaller cards. Also, when I put a lot of music in it, the audio player cannot load everything.

Does similar things happen when you use a large card in a dingoo? What size do you recommend (besides roms, i also want to use it for music and sporadically for movies so i think at least 8gb, but doubting about 16gb).

thanks for helping

ps: anyone knows a good online place to buy this cheaply? (besides dealextreme :-))

There are different classes of SD cards, the cheap ones usually have the slowest transfer speeds. Class 2 is the slowest, the next one up is class 4 which is faster than a class 2, then there's class 6 and class 8.

I use a class 4 8GB and haven't had any problems with my A320. I've heard of people using 16GB, not sure if 32GB would work okay.

Get a good brand and you'll be fine, it's always the cheap ones that fail to perform.

You are right. I looked at the card in my phone and it was a class 2 card. Maybe I buy somewhat more expensive now :-)

My 16 GB (class 2) Sandisk card I use for my Dingoo has never had the problems you describe.

I wonder what's the class of my SD, but it's a Kingston 4gb.  ::)
Never had problems with it.

See if a site called (www.shoptemp.net) has any, they don't actually sell products but they link to trustworthy sites.

A higher class does not necessarily mean a faster card, check some benchmark results here...

I have a SanDisk 16GB class 2 card. Fast enough and I never had a problem so far (as with all my other SanDisk cards).

class mean record speed - class2 is not less than 2mb/sec, class4 is 4mb/sec and so on. upload even 4 gb card with 2mb/sec speed is too slow, i think. 16gb will take 4 times more time

i heard about dingoo start hanging with 16 and 32gb cards while jukebox updating  when there is many files on it.

I guess 32GB is too much for Dingoo to handle.
I have a 16GB Class 10 and it works fine but I've noticed some slow rates with my 8GB class 2 full of audio files.
With the 16GB one I can even load movies very fast but it's much more expensive.

A Sandisk micro SD, 16 GB, Class 4, with a Kingston Mini sd Adaptor, will give problems?  ::)

I mainly get Kingston Class 4 Cards, they are good make, lifetime warenty and cheap.

I have 2X 4GB and 2X 8GB also a 8GB Scandisk then again i have 3 Dingoos.

You could get one Card for Dingux, One for Videos etc. (with Videos you can use software to shrink them down, you can take a 175MB Cartoon down to 50-60MB without much loss in quality).
