If the APPs are not working, have you tried out any of the homebrew emulators? Do they freeze as well?

Good thinking, but Cevyn previously posted an image that shows his internal memory to be 4GB.

Just out of curiosity Cevyn, does your Dingoo have a serial number etched in the casing to the left of the usb port? If so, would you mind posting it?

Maybe they also have 4GB version in china?

There are Two different Types of A320 the pawed ones are for retail sale in China only so all these exporters like China Vision are selling A320's that are only meant for the China Market. The second is the non pawed unit which is intended for export to foreign markets. So these wholesaler companies and e-bayer's are selling units that were only meant for the China Market....

He did mention its a pawed unit. Sucks not having homebrew but ripoc did mention dingux works fine on these models.

If Dingux/dual-boot still works fine, then not being able to run native apps is a pretty small drawback.

Yes, homebrew emulators freeze as well...not even gnuboy runs, same exact hard-freeze.

Your serial does end in "HK" which may indicate a model intended for the Hong Kong market. It would seem you have a 4GB variant of the latest hardware revision, of which others have already reported issues (with the 2GB version)

Just for the record, one of my Dingoos (unpawed) does not have an external serial number. The other (pawed) is:

4G A320BK9330107

If this is the latest design, surely more people will have them in time...hope this means that a patch will become available to allow homebrew apps to run on them.  It's probably as simple as where the app is loaded into memory.

Does anyone else have a Dingoo like mine?

You're the first (to my knowledge) to report a 4GB version of the latest hardware revision. Rest assured it is a near certainty that the particular issue(s) you're experiencing will be isolated and resolved in due time. This isn't the first time the Dingoo's had a hardware revision.  ;)

In the meantime, you may still be able to install dual-boot firmware and run Dingux. This can't be guaranteed though, as only those with the 2GB revision have reported success.

Feeling lucky?

Nope!

So I have a single 4gb chip Dingoo...I wonder what would happen should I solder another 4gb chip into the empty space?  Close examination of both a single and dual chip version shows no significant differences in the PCBs or components.  Thoughts?

Installing dingux is too much of a gamble for you but soldering an extra memory chip is not lol? My, my, someone can't wait to whip a soldering iron at his dingoo  ;D. I believe buying external memory would be a cheaper and safer alternative though. Either way, take some pictures if you do, should be interesting

hehe oh it's absolutely getting Dingux on it, but not until I get word (from the devs maybe?) that it works on this hardware revision.

I need to get an air rework soldering station before I'd even attempt a NAND upgrade though, those traces are tiny.  It's an idea :-D

Cevyn you are not alone.
I've got exactly the same issue with my new Dingoo. Serial num is 4G A320BK96007881HK.

Some thoughts :
If it's something with the memory chips, why do native apps run fine ?
Maybe it's something with the China version not allowing people to install homebrew apps (like the red screen that says "Unauthorized" when flashing the FW).
What is the difference between native and homebrew apps ? Different APIs ? Compilation options ?
Did anybody reverse a native app ?
The date of my native apps is 11/10/2009. It could be worth to compare byte for byte these files with the older ones that run on older Dingoos.

I hope this will help ...

i've just registered the forum to post this.

i have also a 4gb "HK " version...
and i have the same problem as you!!
neogeo pocket games freeze at launch (i 've downloaded the emulator at dingoo-digital site
here the section of emulators http://www.dingoo-digital.com/downloads/emulators
gb color games freeze at launch (i've downloaded the emulator...)
other .app files freeze at launch.

and every body else can run them...  :'(

can't we flash the hardware or something like that http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingoo-hacks/guide-flashing-custom-firmwares-to-your-dingoo/ to fix the problem?

Mine is a 4GB that also ends in HK, no homebrew or downloaded apps worked.  I bricked it with a reflashing tool.  Dingux was installed and worked perfectly.  Even after bricking the native firmware, still able to flash dual boot and run Dingux.  I really hope someone figures out this new hardware, AND figures out how to unbrick them.

Wow, sounds like these HK hardware revisions have some subtle difference...I'm surprised the flashed firmware worked!  Guess I'm lucky in that regard.  Still no luck running homebrew apps on mine.

The post above about the APIs is interesting - what exactly is different about a community compiled app and a Dingoo Digital compiled one?  Perhaps they have a newer SDK than the community has?  Could be a multitude of things.

I'm still waiting for a response from the memory company about the chips, at least then we'd know if we have "authentic" memory in ours.

Could you please try Rubido and version 1 of SmsGGOO. I believe these are made with the official SDK, would be interesting to see if they run.

The dingoo that I bricked with the "unauthorized" screen is the same as those posted in this thread.  Prior to bricking it I installed SmsGGOO v1 and it also froze alone with all the other versions I could find.  It also froze at the game select screen with all versions of DOOENgine.  I can also confirm that Dingux works fine but it makes a ton of buzzing noise when idle and when you are loading a game (it made a bit of noise prior to bricking it but it is much more pronounced now).

For those of you who have Dingoos with serial numbers that end in HK. Where did you purchase your Dingoo from?

I have a sneaky feeling some resellers such as Chinavasion are selling the cheaper, lower quality Dingoos that are intended for the Chinese market only as export models (hence some of you having HK in the serial)
The reason these cheaper Dingoos are produced is presumably because Chinese people can't afford the higher quality export Dingoos.
Dingoos (for rest of the world) do NOT have a Paw Print on the back of the Dingoo case nowadays.

(To make matters even more confusing the original batch of export Dingoos DID have a Pawprint however, but most resellers should have dried up their stocks of those by now)

I spoke to Justin from Dingoo Digital USA the other day, and he said he has been receiving the odd couple of "Chinese" Dingoos among his shipments of Export Dingoos, and is having to send them back to Dingoo Digital China.
