Hey Everyone
Great news - the battery I linked to works.
In case that seller disappears, google for this battery: 1800 mAh 3.7V 5035100
Evidently it's semi-standard sizing.
Received it today -
I put all my pictures up on dropbox here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mo7489y1lo9x6fq/AAC1EJbZDpCKnBtWeWmJlEgia?dl=0To take your dingoo apart -
carefully pull out the four plugs at the corners
underneath are mini phillips screws - take those out
pop out the case - watch out for your power switch.
I would crack the case open top first, the bottom has the audio jack in a hole, so it makes it easier that way.
When you get it open, your battery might be like my old one - all puffy. Also your Dingoo doesn't charge anymore. (this is a sign).
The battery is stuck to the ram chips and SOC by some double sided adhesive pad - DO NOT JUST RIP IT OFF. This might pull out your ram since the condition of the solder is iffy by now.
I used a hair dryer (some of the population have these, if you are reading this chances are your mom has one, if not and you are one of the ones who won the lottery, a cohabitating person might have one).
Use this to heat the pad so the stickiness weakens, then peel it carefully off.
My particular battery seemed to be soldered on there with liquid silver or something, for some reason I couldn't melt the contact point anymore - tried two irons.
What i ended up doing was clip the wire super close and strip it, then soldered to that.
Ghetto I know, but we're not talking F22 jets here.
The battery that came is a smidge thicker, but it will fit. You'll feel it snap in tight. Don't forget your hold/power switch!
And once again it's charging and everyone's happy.
Let's keep these things running!! Cheers everybody and have a great 2016.
