Title: A-380 dies immediately?
Post by: littl3red on March 12, 2015, 02:35:40 am
Hi all,

I was going through my closet and found my Dingoo A-380 I got a couple years ago. I was excited to use it, so I plugged it in to the USB port on my computer and... nothing. I shrugged it off thinking that it just couldn't charge from my USB port for some reason and plugged it in to the USB charger on my surge protector. It turned on and worked fine. Later I unplugged it to plug it into my computer and put some new files on it, but as soon as I unplugged it, the screen went black. Wouldn't turn on, nothing. Plugging it back into the charger turns it on immediately and it works fine. What's going on?

Sounds like the internal battery is completely dead.   ???

Alright, what kind of battery does it use? Is that something that I can replace?

You can replace it with a new battery.

You can buy a Dingoo replacement battery from DX: http://www.dx.com/nl/p/3-7v-2300mah-replacement-battery-pack-for-dingoo-a-320-30996#.VQGvH0nHK-M

I've got one of these in my Dingoo A-380 and they last longer than the one that came with the console.

Thanks Alien Grey! I actually took it apart and got the battery working, looks like it doesn't need replacing. Now I've broken it in an entirely new way! lol.

It's compatible with the Dingoo A-380. The 2300 mAh battery is a little bit thicker than the original battery so there's a small gap between the front and back but it doesn't bother me.

Whilst my A380's battery isn't dead, I was just wondering if anyone knows where to find replacements?

Looks like all the regular sources have dried up!

I have looked myself for years and gave up. Some sites still have them listed for sale, when you try to by them they send you a message saying stock dried up years ago. Best suggestion i can give you is to find an approximation or run outside to an external battery. Any 3.7v lipo that fits inside the case should work. if not run the battery wires outside the case and get a 3.7v lipo that is not to large or heavy. keep it in place with double sided tape. this for example could work http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-7V-1100-mAh-LiPo-Polymer-Battery-Rechargeable-422773-for-GPS-Bluetooth-MP3-/272810654944?epid=18005199874&hash=item3f84c83ce0:g:2sIAAOSw5fFZluwD

Great thanks, a bit pricey but looks okay.

Just wondering, but what about a regular LiPo from a hobby shop? Does the battery need any electronics on it or is that onboard the LiPo itself?

as long as it's a 3.7v single cell lipo it will work. i bought one for my a320 5 years ago and it still works now.  all overvolt and overcharge circuirtry are generally on the battery. however, you buy cheap you get cheap is a general rule of thumb to follow.
