Unbrick A320 with ILI9338 screen?
« on: June 26, 2011, 07:18:28 am »
Hi guys,

I am the unfortunate owner of a new A320 Dingoo with ILI9338 screen. It is new (well supposedly) because in fact it is bricked. I tried the unbrick with the tools of 9331 and 9325 but nothing. I have a gray screen with thin black stripes. I can install the dual boot but have no way other than that damn gray screen. Someone where he can find the file .dl for the new screen? Or know an unbrick software functional?

Thank you for your help

Where did you buy your console and what colour is it?

Thanks.

Sorry I can't help you but at least I pulled up your topic. :-[

Lol Pollux.`
I bought it on Alibaba.com, and it's a black. The seller come from China and say me it's a new dingoo. The packaging was clean and safe but the dingoo was bricked when i open... The screen was blue with an "unauthorized". Firstable, i make a flash of my dingoo with the unbricker for ILI 9331=screen of death!

After, i tried to install dualboot with the new installer for ILI 9338 and it run right with a dingux screen. I reboot and another screen of death...

Sorry for my poor english....

That is not unbricking. A bricked Dingoo is a machine that reacts to but nothing. For a Linux kernel to be loaded the Dingoo needs to start up. A bricked Dingoo is like a brick: it reacts to nothing. It won't start up!
Finally got me a new Dingoo after I Kentucky ~~::fried::~~ the other one. Yippee! [edit] And lost it!

But the dingoo cannot be permanently bricked, you can always boot a linux kernel.

If I am not mistaken booting Dingux (i.e. a Linux kernel from SD card) means that the Dingoo starts up, shows the "Dingux" logo and then, if you press 'Select', the kernel loads and Dingux starts up.

But a truely bricked does not even show the Dingux loge: it cannot be restarted. It is truely just a brick, or am I mistaken? How can you modify a Dingoo to boot Linux if it is really bricked/dead.

A Dingoo that was "modded" to boot Dingux but afterwards was flashed with firmware that does not work might be able to still boot into Linux (= Dingux). But if you truely bricked 'yer Dingoo then only an unbrick tool can solve your problems I think.

The jz4740 SoC present on the Dingoo A320 has a usb-boot mode (the famous "usb mode", when you press B while powering on the device). With this, you can always boot a linux kernel, even if the dingoo's system is trashed, and even without any SD card.

Booboo's dual-boot installer is just that, a linux kernel with integrated tools to flash the custom bootloader, that you load by the usb-boot mode; it has nothing to do with the native OS, and does work the same without any system on the NAND.

Hi!

Thanks all for answer.
I try to explain. I'm not sure my dingoo is really brick. I can switch on, but my screen is grey with thin black stripes...I already try to install dualboot for ILI9338 and it's done! Dingux's logo appears on the screen but, that's impossible to boot on my Sd card with "Select". This is the same way with the USB Mode.
I will try with the new kernel and i tell you what the fuck it is!

So, thanks very much!

Edit: I forgot to mention: the logo "Dingux" appeared when I flashed with the installer of BooBoo's dualboot, but when I reboot the console there is no logo "Dingux"

Your "screen of death" is just the bootloader which starts, and initialize the screen with a wrong configuration (ili9331 or ili9325 instead of ili9338). However, it is still able to boot dingux when you press select. Dingux has its own video driver, so the display *should* be fine once the kernel has started.

So if you brick an ILI9338 Dingoo your native OS is gone? Bloody hell. I won't buy me a Dingoo anymore then. Bye.

His dingoo was already bricked. I don't know how to fix the native OS, but at least he should still be able to boot dingux.

If nothing else works, your last resort would be to replace the LCD screen to a different model.  :(
