Quick Newbie Question about Firmware Install and Dual Boot
« on: March 21, 2011, 03:51:55 pm »
Hiya my Dingoo already came dual boot enabled...

It says Dingux.com etc when booting then goes to Dingoo native start up.

I set up a Dingux SD and it boots fine (power plus select).

My question is i want to add new firmware to fix the Y/B problem in Native OS.

I read the easiest one is the 1.20 pof where i just stick it on the U-Disk and then turn on Dingoo and hold down to install.

MY QUESTION....

Does installing that firmware remove the dual boot, as i as lucky enough to already have it on my Dingoo (ebay) and i know the dual boot install is the trickyest part of hacking the Dingoo that can lead to WSOD.

So after install say 1.20 pof via down and reset, will i need to reinstall the dual booter?

Thank You

Installing via POWER+DOWN doesn't erase any of the contents of the memory. Using the windows flashing tool does.

No worry.

By using the DOWN+POWER procedure, all memory contents will remain INTACT. Dual-boot included.

Firmware? Use the 1.20 version, either oficial or custom works well. I, myself, use the BR Firmware since im brazilian. Just search around and you'll find a nice firmware for ya.

About dingux pack, you can use Santino's v0.35 LocalPack. Not all apps on it are fully updated, but most works well.

Just looked into firmware, but i hear some people have problems with the peformance of native games once they upgrade past 1.1?

I would wonder what most hard core Dingoo uses (those who have most experience) reconmend, that sees the native Emus work as good as before or better

Damn it, no! Don't download Santino's old ass local pack. Just get the updated MINIMAL LOCAL PACK, then look around the ARCHIVE and forums for the programs you want.

Any firmware 1.2 is fine. If it turns out it messes stuff up for some weird reason (never heard of this happening), then you can always get rid of it and go back to whatever you were using.

So you can downgrade from 1.2 if i am not happy with that?

Is there a way to get my firmware 1.1 file backed up on the Pc just in case.

No need. THE ARCHIVE has almost all the firmwares.
