Love this new firmware. Theme-able: lovely! Thank you very much for creating this new firmware that is based on the all new and improved official ver. 1.2. But to be nit-picky: the only thing I do not like is the new 2nd boot screen (the one after the blue paw on the black background). Thats the red sphere w/ Chinese lettering on it. Can it be changed to the old one of the crystal Dingoo paw? Kinda liked that one.  :)
Finally got me a new Dingoo after I Kentucky ~~::fried::~~ the other one. Yippee! [edit] And lost it!

Replace the RES folder in the System folder with your themes RES folder.

Then just make sure you have selected Theme One under System Setup > Theme Choose

This new custom Firmware works very well  ;D

But I did find a bit of Engrish still in there

System Setup > Blight Time

"Blight" = "Backlight" :P, I think originally it was "Blight" because of the space limitations.

hfxtool will let you do that, you can replace the bmp for 'login' and 'shutdown' with the program.

You can get hfxtool here - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?omy0rh2mtkm

You will need to reflash the a320.hfx to apply it

The hxf tool doesn't work with the v1.2 firmware.... It will edit it fine but if you update the dingoo with it, you'll brick it.

It does work, and it works fine with this. I've modified this hxf and I'm using it.

I flashed the hxf using the chinachip flasher and an appropriate bootfile for my lcd screen.

A note about the bootscreen though, you need to make sure it's 16bit bmp.

Wait a minute. I can't place edited firmware in the root of my Dingoo and simply hold "down" on the D-pad whilst booting? Is there a tutorial on how to flash one's firmware with aforementioned Chinachip Flasher tool (and possible more files that are needed)?  ::)

I've flashed three Dingoos with this new firmware without any issues. They were all previously v1.1 with dual-boot. I did not need to install the dual-boot firmware again after upgrading to v1.2-pof.

Nice to see the Engrish is gone. Thanks pof!

I took a chance and used the hfx-tool to add two bootscreens to the 1.20-pof FW version. I  put "my" version of it in the root of the Dingoo and booted w/ down on the D-pad pressed. Fingers crossed (the hfx-tool is known to cause a bricked Dingoo). But it worked fine. I downloaded some pics from the internet and Gimped them. The first is a real footprint of a Dingo (notice the single "o" in the name of the animal which must NOT to be mistaken for our favourite little gaming emulator ;D). The second I found while looking for shutdown icons in Google Images.

P.S. Like Omgmog said: they must be 16 bit bitmaps of 320x240.

Just updated my Dingoo from 1.2 to the custom firmware by using the "holding down" method, no problems at all. And it is really worth it, a lot better than the original specially by allowing themes... :) The Windows 7 one is pretty!
The Dingoo shall rule the world. :)

Strange, after upgrading with the customfirmware I can't switch the device on anymore. It just stayes on the Dingoo Bootlogo...Is it bricked?

Oh no sorry my fault! Just got a wallpaper that was wrong, so the dingoo couldn't load it!
