Can't flash FW on dingoo.
« on: April 14, 2010, 04:33:54 pm »
So, I can't flash any firmware to my dingoo.
I tried to put the .hfx file to the root of my dingoos internal flash memory and reboot it pressing down on D-pad.
Well nothing happens it just starts as usual.
Secondly I tested dingoo firmware flasher software. I did everything http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingoo-hacks/guide-flashing-custom-firmwares-to-your-dingoo/ said. Flasher software just does nothing. Dingoo stays black and the white box on the flasher software stays white no text or anything.

Ps. I managed to flash dingux on it so I don't understand why I can't flash the firmware.
Pps. sry for my english I don't speak it natively.

Oh and I should mention that I'm on windows 7.
But still I didn't have any problem with dingux.

So no one cares or doesn't know how to fix this.

I was wondering that if I format my dingoo and try after that.
But wouldn't this brick my dingoo if I couldn't flash it afterwards.

I've read that the flashing tool needs to be in windows XP, something that the driver is not compatible with Vista or windows 7. Or maybe you can run the flashing tool in "XP compatibility mode"? I'm not really a windows person so I'm not too clear on those details.

When you try and flash just with the Dingoo itself, you say nothing happens when you reboot while pressing the down button. Do you have the firmware file in the root of your internal memory? The file should be named a320.hxf and must be at the top directory on the internal memory.

When you turn the Dingoo on while holding the down button, watch the screen carefully. I have noticed that sometimes it will show a message then quickly go to the normal screen. For instance it can say something like "Same version" so it won't flash because it thinks you are trying to put the same version. I've also seen it say "firmware corrupted". Either way it does show the firmware update screen but only for a brief moment before it goes to the normal menu screen.

What do you mean when you say you "managed to flash dingoo on it" but you can't flash the firmware?

Oops, I meant to say dingux :P
Well nothing just happens when I boot it while holding down on d-pad.
No messages or anything. And yes the .hfx file was named correctly and was in the root of the dingoos internal flash storage.

Well thanks for advice anyways.
I'll just try the compatible mode or find person with xp and go mess with his/hers computer.

Jep it doesn't do anything just starts as usual.
And I tried the xp compatible mode on windows 7 didn't work either.

Well this is kinda strange because this is the first time I ever heard that holding down doesn't work at all and it had to be my dingoo. :-[

Hi

Are you sure your not flashing the same firmware version that is already installed? I'm running version 1.2 and have not seen any need to upgrade.

I have formatted my Dingoo and there was no problems (you should backup the native OS files when you first get it incase there's a problem)

I have tried switching to different releases of firmware.
Simply it just does nothing.
And I'm afraid to format because there is a chance it wouldn't work after.
If I would and it wouldn't work after it my dingoo would only be a paperweight.
