Goodbye Dingoonity
« on: January 12, 2013, 10:52:25 am »
Releases for official hardware don't reach the news page anymore. Neither do most of the OpenDingux releases. But raising money for the GCW Zero does. That's not a Dingoo, now is it?

Dingoonity has become a joke. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

They would if developers would try to understand that a link to the source code is necessary to reach the news page.  ;)

check out the boards: Even if the source is available, most of the time news doesn't reach the front page. And why would developers bother to post sources? It's not their site so it's not their problem that sources are required. It's Dingoonity's problem.

If they don't want to follow the GPL and Dingoonity rules than they shoudn't bother to post their work here and be happy that the mods don't remove it. After all it isn't only their work.

I can live with the fact that nothing that is done for the Dingoo A-380 is ever going to make the news so why would you bother that developers that violate the GPL rules don't make it on the news page. There are other ways to give it the attention it deserves.

You could try asking for something to get a post in the News subforum instead of just complain. And I think you can't really consider the forum as a joke only because the news subforum doesn't get updated as you would like. Someone has to manually do it, and maybe they don't have the time... maybe you could offer some of your time to have the news page up to date.

Also, the "GCWZero is not a Dingoo" argument has been used a lot of times... well, it uses an OS made for people from this comunity, and it's probably the closest thing to a Dingoo you could get. If the forum would have been an strict dingoo forum then it would have died long ago, since the Dingoos are not being produced anymore.

But noone said that this forum would always be a Dingoo-only forum, so don't get mad at everyone else if you got the wrong idea.

It's worth noting that GCW Zero is a project originating from this very community. If half of the dingoonity scene helps developing it, why can't we discuss about it on our own forums?

The thing with news posts is mostly that the news staff we have are busy with other things, which means they probably only post things they are interested in. Anyone interested in being a news poster?
