Title: dingoo firmware version ?
Post by: lak on November 01, 2009, 02:20:01 am
Hello,
Got my dingoo 3 days ago

I look under system set->about :

it shows version v1.2.

Is this the latest official version ?

Is there a way to backup the firmware? (not just the folders)

You do not need to back up the native firmware.

What you can install is a dual-boot system, that preserves the native firmware, and allows you to choose to boot up in native Firmware, or Dingux.

The same system allows you to later flash back to just native firmware (that is, get rid of Dingux if you want...but who'd want to...)

Have a look at this link, and follow the guide completely, and you shopuld be flying Dingux in no time.  I'm a complete moron when it comes to this stuff and I was able to flash my Dingoo with the dual boot installer using this guide...

"The complete Idiot's Guide To Installing Dingux"
http://www.dingoo-scene.com/TheCompleteidiotsGuidetoDinguxWindoze.htm

One thing, though...if possible, try to use a computer running XP to do this...some Vista users did report problems.  and I know nothing about those running Windows 7.  Just use a compy that runs XP if you can.

If I have helped you today, please give me karma, thanks.

You can find the latest firmware over at http://www.dingoo-digital.com/downloads/firmwares

As you have 1.02 at the moment, you could either upgrade to 1.1 (the latest official firmware), or a modified/custom firmware 1.03TD-3

I'm pretty sure he was just asking if the firmware version on his Dingoo was the latest, not asking how to install Dingux, and it's rude to ask people for karma ;)

Please try to ensure that you keep on topic.

I misunderstood his request then.

and if it's rude to ask for karma..then why does someone have a request for karma phrased just like mine...in their signature line?

You've now gone offtopic again :P
It's rude because people don't request karma, it is awarded because people want to award it, not because it has been asked for.

It's fine to have it in your sig, infact that's a great idea, but asking in your posts adds unceccessary offtopic fluff to the topic, and as you can see now, it causes the topic to become siderailed.

I misunderstood his request then.

Are you sure it says 1.2? and not 1.02?

1.2 would be nice.  ;D That would show that Dingoo-Digital cares about us (a little).  :D
If it?s really 1.2, any differences? Maybe a new emulator, or a language pack again?
Title: Re: dingoo firmware version ?
Post by: onion on November 02, 2009, 04:52:08 pm
Mine is saying 1.2 too. Maybe that means 1.02?
Title: Re: dingoo firmware version ?
Post by: Harteex on November 02, 2009, 05:17:34 pm
I don't think so. Mine says V1.1 and it is 1.10.

So that's cool, I wonder what's new :)

EDIT:
Ok for anyone of you with 1.2:
* See if the Y/B button issue is still present (Y and B cannot be pressed at the same time). Check this with any emulator or this (http://www.harteex.com/temp/ControlTest.app) app. (Although let's not get too optimistic here....)
* How many languages do you have? (1.10 has 6 languages)
Title: Re: dingoo firmware version ?
Post by: lak on November 03, 2009, 01:22:50 pm
Hi,
My version is V1.2  not 1.02.
Dingux is great but it seems everyone is linuxifying every handheld.
I liked the short bootup time.

The Y/B buttons are working well using the ControlTest.app.
All combination works as indicated.

Is there something specific I'm looking for?

X key held down for more than 5 secs exits program. That is intended I believe.
The english menus still littered with bad spelling though. (I'm Singaporean and reads Chinese)
I'm ashamed to show it to my colleagues with psp.

Title: Re: dingoo firmware version ?
Post by: Harteex on November 03, 2009, 02:11:56 pm
The only thing I'm interested in is if the program says both B pressed and Y pressed at the same time when you hold both those buttons.
Because on firmware 1.10, when you hold Y, and press B, the Y button will not be pressed anymore in the program, even though you still press it.

The hold X thing to exit is by design, it works in almost all Dingoo games.

EDIT:
Oh and which languages does it include? :)

I wonder if they updated the emulators. Can someone with 1.2 upload them for us? Would be nice to see if the checksums changed.

My firmware has 9 languages. And I think Y and B is working, because I played Mario on NES Emulator and there was no problem. Will check it again later.

Best way to check is in Super Mario Land, the first level to the right. Just pick up the shell and try to jump. If you can do that without remapping the buttons the problem is fixed :)

Someone know how to dump a firmware or where to find it ?

I have no idea how to backup / dump a firmware. However we could always bug kswildeside ;)
He has some contacts with Dingoo Digital.
I'll direct him to this thread.

Any chance somebody with the 1.2 firmware can upload the A320.HXF file to Mediafire/Megaupload/Rapidshare or something please?

No telling how long it will take for Dingoo Digital to update their site.

PS.  Dingoo888.com is still showing as a reported attack site. Its probably riddled with Trojans yet again because its always being hacked.

Post by: kswildside on November 04, 2009, 02:40:15 am
Ok guys the forums have been abuzz about this new firmware seen in the wild the elusive 1.20 Official Dingoo Digital A320 Firmware well I caught him I did I did.

Thanks to my connections at Dingoo Digital China as a reseller they provided me a copy before it is posted on the Dingoo Digital China website. Don't ask me when it will be posted on their site I have no clue the actual Dingoo Digital China website is hacked all the time so who knows when it will get posted there.

So enjoy the new firmware from the rumor mill it seems to fix the y & x button bug and the codec issue with video stalling while playing and last but not least more languages. I don't know I haven't tested it yet as I'm typing this and posting it to everyone else can have it....

Yet another stupid question: upgrading and flashing to the new 1.20 firmware won't delete the data on my Dingoo, will it?

Yet another stupid question 2: I can't seem to find instructions on how to actually flash my Dingoo. I know it must be there in one of the 1.000 forum topics or some website Wiki or FAQ, but I can't seem to find it... Sorry folks, but can somebody enlighten me please?

No it just updates the firmware :-)

Updating Firmware!

1: Plug Dingoo in to your USB
2: Copy the A320.HXF file to the root of you dingoo
3: Unplug your dingoo and switch it off
4: Switch your dingoo back on holding down on the control pad
5: let it update - do not switch off your dingoo till complete
6: you will have to set the language back through settings - its the sixth line down I think
7: In settings/about you can see your new firmware version 1.2 :-)

BTW: make sure you have plenty of battery life when doing this

@ ruffnutts

To change my theme to a mac or windows 7 look, can it be done with the official upgrade 1.2 or is it only with the custum versions?

Because i had before the 1.03 TD3 CFW and now the official 1.2

srr for my English

You can not use themes with the official firmware, you will have to wait till someone makes a custom version of the 1.20 firmware.

That I`m not sure, havnt had the chance to look @ it - I had to rush to work lol,
Would be good if you could change themes in the official firmware - I know you cant in earlier versions,
All I know it fixes the X/Y problem and makes movie playback better.

Can someone confirm - I dont have my dingoo with me

It is that simple! Thank you. I upgraded. Don't see much difference, albeit that I think they canged the font a bit. I think that the old firmware had lesser anti aliassing (rougher looking font, that is) and no bold font in the top menu item.

No worries - your welcome

But they fixed a big issue with the X/Y Buttons being pressed at the same time - wich was a pain in
The arse lol, and sluggish movie playback - thats a great difference - lets hope they keep bring updates out :-)

BTW: You can delete A320.HXF file once done!

About video playback w/ the new firmware: is that "colour banding" problem gone? The Dingoo seems to display less colors than 24 or 32 bit colors. This becomes apparent when the video has dark colours. A black suit seems not to vary in "darkness" but it seems to change from black to dark grey when a lighter shade should be displayed. Same goes for the games in PSX4All: it has the same colour problem. Is it the firmware, or is it a hardware limitation of the Dingoo's "video card" or the LCD screen?

<I may have to start a separate topic on this>

This is true, but I find that I am using my DS and my GBA/SP hardly at all anymore, now that I have my Dingoo!!

I only use them, basically, when the battery is dead in my Dingoo!!

Or, if I want to play an NDS game, since Dingoo won't emulate NDS.

I doubt dingoo ever will be able to emulate NDS, incidentally, since NDS has 2 screens, and Dingoo has but one.
