No it just updates the firmware :-)

Updating Firmware!

1: Plug Dingoo in to your USB
2: Copy the A320.HXF file to the root of you dingoo
3: Unplug your dingoo and switch it off
4: Switch your dingoo back on holding down on the control pad
5: let it update - do not switch off your dingoo till complete
6: you will have to set the language back through settings - its the sixth line down I think
7: In settings/about you can see your new firmware version 1.2 :-)

BTW: make sure you have plenty of battery life when doing this

To change my theme to a mac or windows 7 look, can it be done with the official upgrade 1.2 or is it only with the custum versions?

You can not use themes with the official firmware, you will have to wait till someone makes a custom version of the 1.20 firmware.

That I`m not sure, havnt had the chance to look @ it - I had to rush to work lol,
Would be good if you could change themes in the official firmware - I know you cant in earlier versions,
All I know it fixes the X/Y problem and makes movie playback better.

Can someone confirm - I dont have my dingoo with me

It is that simple! Thank you. I upgraded. Don't see much difference, albeit that I think they canged the font a bit. I think that the old firmware had lesser anti aliassing (rougher looking font, that is) and no bold font in the top menu item.
Finally got me a new Dingoo after I Kentucky ~~::fried::~~ the other one. Yippee! [edit] And lost it!

No worries - your welcome

But they fixed a big issue with the X/Y Buttons being pressed at the same time - wich was a pain in
The arse lol, and sluggish movie playback - thats a great difference - lets hope they keep bring updates out :-)

BTW: You can delete A320.HXF file once done!

btw, i think hxftool is no more compatible with this, i tried to change the bootscreens to amiga style, and now my Dingoo is bricked. :(
Unfortunately i?m no more able to acces the flash memory, now going through the long and painful process of unbricking. After that: all gone...
So be careful ;)

About themes, there actually are themes in the System setup menu (haven't seen them before), but it looks like it's basically just changing the color of the background.

BTW, does anyone know what the Udisk immunity option does?

I think it is a kind of virus protection. On the packaging was sth. like this mentioned. "U-disk virus protection: Build in anti-virus software protect and keep the system at its best performance."

Isn't there a way to get into the file and change the menu items, like you can in Dingux?

There is: HXFTool
It should work with the new firmware, but no guarantees :)

Don't use hfxtool with fw 1.2! It will brick your Dinoo!

About video playback w/ the new firmware: is that "colour banding" problem gone? The Dingoo seems to display less colors than 24 or 32 bit colors. This becomes apparent when the video has dark colours. A black suit seems not to vary in "darkness" but it seems to change from black to dark grey when a lighter shade should be displayed. Same goes for the games in PSX4All: it has the same colour problem. Is it the firmware, or is it a hardware limitation of the Dingoo's "video card" or the LCD screen?

<I may have to start a separate topic on this>

HFX tool is buggy, it doesn't save your edits good :(
I btw just updated to 1.2 and first the language was set to manderins, so I had to find the langauge settings first but that was not too hard (just go off all settings menu until you see english)
Y/b is fixed yeah!
And for those who had this pre-installed can you pls look if your snes emu is updated?

I know, selfquoting sucks, but BACKUP your stuff BEFORE you update to the edited firmware:

Good stuff. Updated!

I'm still new to all of this and the amount of support for the Dingoo has absolutely astonished me! But you gotta love Dingux!

My PSP and DS are in the bin.
