Dingoo Mega Pack 1.0
« on: November 24, 2009, 10:28:18 pm »
*** NOTE ***
This is an old version, please see this topic: http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingoo-games-and-homebrew/dingoo-mega-pack-2-0/

--------------------

First Dingoo Mega Pack is now released. This is a pack of games and emulators for native firmware.

You'll have to get the bios image required for LynGOO (lynx) yourself, since it's not legal for me to provide it in this package. See LynGOO.txt for more info.

*** Instructions ***

Just unzip directly to your dingoo's internal memory.

Readme files for games and apps are placed in A:\TXT\README so that they are easily accessible with the ebook reader.

If you run check_problems.bat it will tell you if there are any problems, such as missing bios images or conflicting emulators.

*** List of games/apps ***

Yea I know. I haven't decided which version I should add yet, because the latest one has problems with the rotation and collision detection. So I might include an older one instead.
And I really don't like external files, so I'm going to recompile it with resources embedded.

I'll probably add it to the next version.

Yes I know, see post above for AstroLander. I was going to add MineSweeper but I greatly misunderstood the game (the game field does get bigger when you win). So it'll also be in the next version.

Some of these games don't quit nicely.  The only way I got out of spoout was to find a paper clip and reset the machine.  Am I missing some obvious way to bail on these games?

If you can't find the exit button, usually that's written in the readme for the game, which you'll find via the ebook reader. As for spoout, it's Start+Select.

I just installed this megapack today and everything shows up but when I try to run any game or app from the pack, or use an emulator from the pack the dingoo just freezes.  The screen doesn't go blank or anything like that, I highlight the program, press A.... nothing at all happens, and the only thing I can do is hit the Reset.

Any idea about why this would happen?  Anything preinstalled, or installed seperately from this pack is working fine.

I am using the 1.20 pof custom firmware if that might be why...

I have Dingux installed as a dualboot and everything on that end runs fine as well.

That sounds strange  ???
For the emulators you might need to update jukebox, but you shouldn't have to do that for the apps.
You could always try to unpack some of the things from the pack separetely and then copy it over.

Grab a game, for example SameGoo and see if it works. Then delete it and install the one from the pack and see if that works.

no it isn't :/

I tried installing a few apps separately and now none will work, they all just instantly freeze the Dingoo

I backed up then reflashed to the official firmware and same thing.  All downloaded apps just won't run.  Gnuboy in DIngux runs fine, but installing it to the native OS freezes...

I tried using the unbricker tool to perhaps reset it to factory or something, but the dingoo isn't actually bricked and it didn't really work out.  Any specific way to set a working Dingoo back to factory?  Not really sure what else to do.  The worst part is that everything that was already on there is working just fine.. but I would really like to try out some homebrew, non-rom games.

I'm up for any ideas.
