A320 Official GBA Games on A330
« on: May 27, 2010, 10:23:30 am »
none of the a320 included gba games (ie: 1001.jgc, 1002.jgc, etc) are working on the a330. the a330 gets stuck at "loading" for each of them. it is obvious to me that dingoo technologies is trying to get away from dingoo digital with the a330 and the lack of a320 games and apps on the a330 prove that to me. in fact the a330 includes 10 .app games not found on the a320 (to the best of my research ability).

my question is, is anyone else experiencing this issue? can these be patched in some way to run on the a330?

thank you!

What .app games are on the A330? Would you mind uploading them somewhere?

Re GBA, is it just the pre-bundled games that don't work or all GBA games? Have you tried using the GBA.sim from the A320? Wasn't there a problem with some models of the A320 (HK) that required them to use a patched version of GBA.sim - have you tried that?

I can?t get them to run on my A320 (no HK)either anymore: it came with them, i deleted, later downloaded again,and they no more work (stuck at loading screen too)...
Maybe they must be saved in a special place?
Any chance you can share those .app games (if they are good)?  :D

...wait do you mean the gba roms that come on it? as those shouldn't be .jgc for a start

if you mean apps, the 330 requires the same patching an 'hk' 320 does

330 comes with some new '3d game', but they seem to be the same rubbish as always :D puzzle bobble is alright i guess though

He means the Jungletac games that came with most Dingoos, they have the .jgc extension but play via the GBA emulator.

The Jungletac ROMS came with my first Dingoo, which I got back in December of 2009. The unit played them perfectly. This is not true, though, of all Dingoos. Of the six A320s I've had, three have supported the Jungletac ROMs and three have not. I've tried various versions of the GBA emulator, but the results are the same. It appears to be a result of the manufacturing change -- Dingoos with one chip support the Jungltac ROMs; Dingoos with two chips do not.

It's the same scenario as the NEO GEO sprite scaling problem. The pixellation issue does not occur on one-chip Dingoos, but it does occur on two-chip Dingoos. I'm assuming that, since the Jungletac problem is present on the A330, the NEO GEO problem will be, too... which makes me very sad.

The Jungletac thing doesn't bother me all that much (except for not being able to play "Rolling Block" anymore  :( ), but the NEO GEO problem does. A lot. You'd think that when a company changes their hardware they'd be responsible enough to upgrade their own software so it still runs correctly on the new hardware. The NEO GEO isn't a third-party community product; they should have fixed it when it started failing on A320s. The same is true of the GBA emulator, which has other issues aside from the Jungletac thing.

I haven't received my A330 yet so I can't say for certain if the NEO GEO problem is still there, but I'm not feeling very optimistic right now. On my A320s, I've switched to using FBA320 on Dingux for playing NEO GEO games, as it doesn't have any sprite scaling problems. It'd be nice to have a native OS solution, though. Of course, it'd also be nice to play Rolling Block again. ;)

Please keep us updated re the neo-geo scenario on the A330 - I hope it's not a case of Dingo Tech striking again, unleashing an inferior, bootlegged product.

Current working hypothesis is HK dingoo A320 == A330
all the glitches from the HK A320 seem to be 1:1 there on A330.

Regarding updates ... the emulators have not once been updated.
I have given up hope, that they will do something there.

But for me it is really strange that they double the RAM, and than do not use it.
The only way to take advantage of the RAM seems to be Dingux (not yet there!).

So what was the "official" notion to do the RAM doubling.

What advantage is there on native A330??

So you're saying the Jungletc ROMs worked... and then they didn't work... on the SAME Dingoo?

If so, that's very interesting, and may put a hole in my brilliant theory... but a hole that could be filled with hope!

Did you make any changes to the Dingoo between deleting the Jungletac ROMs and downloading them again, such as a firmware change? Might not matter, though, since four of my Dingoos were using pof's custom firmware... two could run the JGC games and two could not.

I bought my A330 solely for the shoulder buttons and the wireless controller. I was hoping for some software fixes but didn't really expect any. The shoulder buttons on my first A320 both broke after (literally) fifteen minutes of Pinball of the Dead. Since then, I've been avoiding using the shoulder buttons on my Dingoos as much as possible and remap them whenever I can. Improved shoulder button performance and durability is HUGE for me. I really like using my Dingoo as a home console machine, and the wireless controller will be a big help there.

As far as native software goes, though, the future of the Dingoo in the hands of the brilliant and generous members of the Dingoo development community who have given us so many good things.

And then there's Dingux, which rocks severely.

I can confirm the NeoGeo pixelation issue is present on the A330.

FYI, Justin from DDUSA is looking into this. I asked him to try patching Rolling Block for me yesterday. I'll let you know what happens.

I think it's hardware and software related FBA ported to native might resolve this issue as I doubt Dingoo-Tech will do anything with the emulators

jungletac roms should be on /GAME/GBA folder and the files must be named like this:

1001.jgc -> for Tiger Rescue
1002.jgc -> for Hero Legend
1003.jgc -> for Jewel Fever 2
1004.jgc -> for Pinball Fish
1005.jgc -> for Fire Fighter
1006.jgc -> for Pop Ball
1007.jgc -> for Super Move Quest
1008.jgc -> for Squirrel Bobble
1009.jgc -> for Bump Bomb
1010.jgc -> for Hide and Seek
1011.jgc -> for Jewel Master
1012.jgc -> for Manic Troll
1013.jgc -> for Rolling Cube
1014.jgc -> for Rapid Stream
1015.jgc -> for Bubble Blaster
1016.jgc -> for Hot Drop

otherwise they will not run in my dingoo. I have an unpawed dingoo bought at September 2009.

i pulled them off of my pawed a320, also i am having the scailing neo geo issue. so i guess it is hardware related. i already know that the a330 was the currenly produced a320 in a new shell, but i had hoped for some revisions and updates.

That interesting, I renamed them all and they run fine on my Dingoo. Mine came from Dingoo Digital and not Dingoo Tech though. Another reason to steer clear of the A330 IMO.

They sell the A330's on eBay now with Dingux pre-installed on a provided Mini SD card. Dingux is cool but it doesn't solve everything, in fact you lose some functionality, like internal memory, TV-out and some other minor things.
