Super Mario World Rom Hacking
« on: June 12, 2010, 01:15:29 pm »
Hi, I am trying to get some super mario world hacks to run but I keep having problems, the hacks will either crash or have no video. I am on native firmware, would this be fixed if i was on dinguX? I heard it's SNES emulator is much better on the dinguX firmware and I was hoping someone could try to run a few romhacks on it for me to see if it works. Thanks in advance!.

Heres the site for SMW rom hacking if you dont understand what i'm talking about.

http://www.smwcentral.net/

*please note the above site does NOT contain any illegal roms (or any roms at all for that matter) including super mario world! It only contains IPS files that you must patch onto super mario world to create the rom hack.

Hi there. The native SNES emulator is generally considered one of the worse emulators on native. Snes9x4D (on Dingux), is way better, and have much higher compitability, and awesome speed, especially when overclocked to 400-430 MHz. I think you'd be much better off with flashing the dual-boot bootloader, put Dingux on an SD-card, and try it out yourself.

In regards to the IPS patching, I've patched Radical Dreamers, and it works flawlessly on Snes9x4D, so other patched ROMs should work aswell.

I once ran the music mod in the native emulator, before dingux came. Patching with IPSxp did not work, that might be your error too?

I've seen that video before, never ceases to amaze me! I didn't know there was a patch available to run it though, I would love to have this :D

Here?s the patch:

I read that you should use LunarIPS and a Super Mario World (U) rom.
Have fun  ;D

Pretty much all I use Snes9x4D for is playing patched translated Japanese games, and I have tested tons of Super Mario World hacks. They work just like Super Mario World.

Tried patching four different SMW roms, didn't work on any of them =/

Hmm, i just noticed that my rom is a european one (E), sry for the inconvenience caused. But i am sure i read that a (U) one was necessary...

Lunar IPS on both (U) and (E), both good ROMs [!] and revision roms [b1] and [t1].

Hmm, you must be doing something wrong. ^^
I just patched the (E) rom with LunarIPS (from here) and played it in the native emulator. My dingux is currently f*cked up (zImage hazzle when trying TV-out, too lazy to reformat), so i can?t test in snes9x.

edit: Works in snes9x fine too!

Holy Christ, thank you so much. That music mod is one of three reasons why humanity is worth of existance (the other two are free jazz and canned tuna).

Ok after some searching I have found that only certain super mario world roms will work when patched (ironically the only one i've found that works has no (U) or anything on the end of it :-\ )

Anyways If anyone wants the link youll have to PM me because i'm pretty sure i'm not allowed to post it..
