SAV & State Files - PC to Dingoo
« on: November 14, 2009, 01:39:13 am »
I'm wondering if it's possible to take a state file from one emulator and use it on Dingoo version of that emulator.
For example, copy over a state file from Visual Boy Advance to Dingoo's native GBA emulator.

If anyone has experimented with different state formats and with different emulators already (and especially if some of those experiments were successful) - post the info here about which emulators and file formats did you use.

actually, I was trying to find save states for Riviera: The Promised Land with all extra contents unlocked and before each kind of ending.
So if anyone has those for Dingoo, I'd really appreciate it.

I took a save state from Phantasy Star II for Jenesis (NDS emu of Genesis) and used it on my Dingoo, and it worked.
It was an .SMD file in that case.
Basically, it seems that, with the Dingoo, these will work, as long as the emu's use the same file extensions for save states.

I don't know about GBA, but Snes9x on Dingux seems to be compatible with savestates from the PC version.

As an example, someone here posted a set of PC savestates for Super Mario Allstars that allowed SMB1, SMB3 and Lost Levels to be played (they usually freeze upon selection).

It's not that easy with snes9x, it doesn't work with the normal version of the PC emu. I had to compile an old version and change some bits for the Dingoo. Should be easyer now that we have the source of snes9x for Dingux.

One thing i can say is that the gba emulator uses unchanged sram. You can use savegames from original cardridges, vba or ez flash iv etc.
