quick (probably dumb) GBA questions
« on: September 27, 2010, 01:48:37 pm »
Some of the GBA games I try to load just start and then take me back to the list of games. I think this has something to do with the amount of memory the original cart had or something. I seem to remember a tool that you could run your roms through that would fix this, but I forget what it is or how it works.

Also, is it possible to get Mario Advance 4 (SMB3) to work with GBA?

It happens sometimes. A lot of 3D games (Dragonball Z: Legacy of Goku, DOOM, etc) have this issue with me. However, sometimes it helps if you redownload them from another source, or if you use the program GBATA to patch them, if needed (which most can benefit from). Super Mario Advance 4 works perfectly fine for me, so I suspect you got it from a bad site. Try downloading elsewhere.

Right. In GBATA, use the "SRAM Patcher." This makes the ROM recognize the Dingoo as a place to store the ingame saves.

This is true for a number of ROMs (some Pokemon games, for example), so if you find that a GBA game won't work (especially if you get a message that says the save is corrupt), try the SRAM Patcher.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. Any idea what to do with the games that start, but then dump you back to games list? I'm desperate to play Onimusha Tactics, but this always happens and I've tried with 3 or 4 different roms. Also, it happens on a few others as well.
