mame4all 'unable to start video emulation'
« on: April 18, 2011, 01:20:28 pm »
Hi all,

been sorting through roms for the Dingux mame4all emu, got a load of the correct romsets for this. Tried x-men arcade and i get this message: 'unable to start video emulation'

Does anyone know what this means? Do i need to tweak the settings or does anyone know what settings to use for it?

In general im struggling to config some games, does anyone know of any sites that can give you an idea about the setups for each game?

Cheers

A

I assume you refer to X-Men from Konami.

The 4 player (and 2 player) versions work with MAME. You have probably the wrong ROM version.

You need a MAME 0.37b5 ROM set. Here are the X-Men (4 Player) CRCs:

The MAME settings are described in the readme.txt. You can gain performance by overclocking the CPU, changing the sound quality, avoid scaling etc.

With sound and OC at 420 Mhz, I don't get more than 20 FPS on the Dingoo. It runs fullspeed on the Caanoo at 700 Mhz.

Thank you very much for that info.

Im just getting up to speed with all this stuff. Would you mind answering a few more questions?

How do you run games that run out of memory with Mame4all on dingux, especially the ones that i cant convert to fba?

Also how do i convert neo geo .mvs files to zip in order to make .fba cache files? And do i need to convert .cps1 and .cps2 too?

Just trying to get my head around it all and any help is appreciated. Being looking online but cant find definite info!

Regarding MAME. You can create your own MAME 0.37b5 set using clrmamepro.

1. Profiler : Create and load profile for MAME 0.37b5 .
2. Settings : Create ROM path for your MAME 0.37b5 ROM set.
3. Rebuilder : Deactivate "Recompress Files" for performance reasons. Now simply drag & drop your actual and rollback MAME ROM directory simultaneously into the Rebuilder window.
4. That's it. Wait until your new MAME 0.37b5 ROM set has been created. It takes some time.

All you need is an actual and the corresponding rollback MAME ROM set.

Regarding FBA. You need to convert the "bigger" ROMs with fbacache.exe (check readme.txt). Here's a list where you can see which ROMs need to be converted. You need to check fbacache output carefully for ROM file errors. If I remember correctly, you need a FBA or a MAME 0.119 ROM set.

Or the easy way. Look for dingoo web...

.mvs files are converted files for the native Dingoo NG emu. I don't think you can convert them back to the original .zip. Use FBA or MAME .zips from the PC to create Dingoo FBA files.

On DingooA320 X-Men Arcade and bigger roms (for example Irem games like In the Hunt and Undercover Cops)work only with swap.If you have no idea what is swap read this:http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingux-releases/using-swap-makes-dingoo-have-64m-ram/

Though it's useless for the native version.
