Importing save files for ROMs?

I have recently bought the GCW Zero, but I have been using emulators on my laptop for quite a while now. I've been trying to find ways to import save files to games that I'm putting on the GCW, but have had no luck. If anyone can help, that would be great.

For many emulators you can move over sram saves, but not emulator dependent save states. You move them to ~/.programname/saves (or something that resembles that).
