I've heard it's about 5-10% slower than normal. Is this noticeable?

I haven't noticed any GBA games running noticably slower in general play to be honest.

3D games (like Stuntman, Hot Wheels Stunt Track Challenge and Tony Hawks Downhill) and pseudo-3D games (like the THPS series - but strangely not the Spyro games) tend to knacker it and run quite slow but most 2D games (platform, puzzle and the like) are fine.

I hadn't even notice slowdown in Stuntman...the only game I've noticed playing slowly is Mario Tennis.  I haven't tried it, but I imagine overclocking would help with that.

All the 3D games run fine for me, such as Need for Speed series, VRally, Asterix XXL, Killswitch, Star X etc. Make sure the frameskip is set to auto and the sound is perfect. Super Monkey Ball can get a little jerky but it's still awesome

Castlevanias run great too
