GBA emulation at 60 FPS?
« on: August 25, 2010, 01:27:23 am »
I've ordered a Dingoo A330 that's probably gonna be here in a couple of days.

I bought it for the emulation, especially NES and GBA (plus GB and GBC), since apparently the Dingoo run those perfectly?

But apparently, it is not able to run GBA games at full speed? Seems everyone's running GBA games with 1 frameskip, meaning at 30fps instead of 60? To me, that's a really serious issue!  :-[

Of course, I haven't actually tried the Dingoo yet, so I can't know how noticeable it is, but when I set the frameskip to 1 on VisualBoy Advance on the PC, it looks really annoying, and the difference is very noticeable.

Is it not in any way possible to make the GBA games run in 60 fps? Overclocking or some other kind of optimization? Dingux and custom emulators? All that stuff?

I think GBA still feels pretty smooth (it's on auto frameskip on default), but you'll see for yourself when it arrives.
You can overclock, but it's not that straightforward, see this topic, especially the last post: http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingoo-releases/new-improved-overclocker-application/

Also, for GB and GBC you need to download gnuboy. The version in this pack is patched for the A330:
