CPS2 and MAME

Cool me really ignorant but i want to know, what is the difference between MAME and CPS2? As far as I can see there is no difference between the emulators. They both play the same games. I'm willing to be taken to school on this one, correct me!

CPS2 only plays certain Capcom arcade games, mostly ones released from 1993-2003.

By contrast, MAME stand for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. So while it can play a bunch of CPS2 games, it will also run many others.

MAME pretty much plays anything but on the Dingoo, it's not perfect. Example - Ghouls 'n Ghosts runs much better on Final Burn. You might wanna run your CPS2 games on that (I'm told it also plays CPS1, Neo Geo, Cave and Toaplan games).

I always thought that Mame was for the old-old-large-grey_beard-old-school games from around 1980 (i.e. Pac Man, Donkey Kong etc.). That is: for people my age. Grey old people, ha ha! Those games were developed in the time that Capcom may even did not exist yet. Those games were the games that companies like Nintendo (Donkey Kong), Sega (Zaxxon) and Namco (Pac Man) started with. Before they went into the home gaming market.

Capcom released a few Play Systems (CPS). The first 2 can be emulated w/ the Dingoo. Capcom is best known for the 1 on 1 fighting games from the 90's in the arcade halls. Sort of the same thing goes for the Neo Geo. But that's how I see it.
Finally got me a new Dingoo after I Kentucky ~~::fried::~~ the other one. Yippee! [edit] And lost it!

MAME emulates a range of Arcade games from 1975 - 2006.

Capcom kicked off properly in the arcade scene around 1984 with a classic shooter - 1942.  (Capcom did release some obscure arcade games in 1983 but nobody remembers those)
