CPS gamed give my Dingoo even more WOW! factor
« on: November 01, 2009, 02:27:30 pm »
Hi!,
Just downloaded the pre-converted sets and had a bit of a play!...fantastic.

Really impressed the with arcade stuff (still think the other emu stuff is great too).....it shows the Dinngoo at it's best.

I'm more than happy to stick with the native emulation (just can't get Dingux installed on mine?)

Love to see MAME (native) and WINuae running on my Dingoo sometime in the future...and many more classic 80's/90's platforms emulated directly on the Dingoo....still got plenty of games to play on until then ;D

Those Capcom arcade games are more beautiful than anything released for the home market. Makes our Dingoo look really cool! BTW: I think there is a topic here on how to install Dingux. It's not that hatd. :)
Finally got me a new Dingoo after I Kentucky ~~::fried::~~ the other one. Yippee! [edit] And lost it!

I've gone through all the excellent Dingux install guides, but just can't get the dual boot loader to install...keeps crashing on Windows XP on the second stage of the installer script.

I'm more than happy with the in-built stuff, but hopefully someone will come up with a one-click installer for Dingux at some stage?.

The CPU overclocker seems to work as well, despite some people saying nothing seems to happen? it certainly helped with some of the more 'sluggish' NeoGeo games.

I might get a second one for my nine year old daughter for christmas...she keeps nagging me of an iPod....what's the point when I can get a Dingoo for a lot less and it has more features ;D

Have you tried
"The Complete Idiot's Guide For Installing Dingux"

Believe me, it works, because I am a complete idiot at this stuff, and I managed to install it using that guide, and an XP computer.

I'm wondering if you ever took the step of uninstalling the "China Chips" because, if you didn't that is probably your problem.

You need to do that from the Hardware settings from your computer's control panel.

Just uninstall every device that shows up as a USB Mass Storage Device...and any device that comes up as a question mark on that list.

THEN...unplug and re-plug the Dingoo to the USB interface.

Presto, no more china chip...go ahead with dingux dual boot installer.

I'm sorta betting that's where your problem is...because that's where I had tons of trouble, too.

Hey Fatboy!  ;D

I just got my dingoo and noticed that the complete idiots guide may be lacking in detail regarding how to get it into USB mode correctly. Did you actually get the Jz4740 (Rockbox USBtool) driver installed or not?

Try my steps;
Quote
1, Plug dingoo into usb. It can be on or off, it doesn't matter (it will go into what looks lke USB mode, with a usb icon on the screen. This means the chinachip drivers are active)

2, Hold the b button, and hold the power switch to the on/off position for 5 seconds it should seem to turn off.

3, you may need to go into devices or a prompt will automatically appear, install the drivers included with the Dingux package, and you should be good to go & ready for flashing!l)

Nah...it isn't the Idiot's Guide that is lacking in detail...rather it is my description of how you do it.  I forgot to mention the holding B and power-off step.  The Guide does mention it.  Bad on me.  In either case, following exactly, the directions given in the Idiot's Guide...will result in perfectly easy Dingux installation.  As I said, I'm a total moron with this stuff, and it helped me....
