Yinlips YDPG18 Upgrade 1.5Ghz Andriod 2.3

http://www.isharegifts.com/yinlips-ydpg18-core-a10-upgrade-version-pre-order-p-1616.html

While looking at the JXD s601 i noticed the site also had pre orders for a upgraded YDP G18, with improvements.

Seems with Andriod 2.3 the Analog and D-Pad are seperate.

Has better touch screen, and HDMI out.

The CPU could be market ploy again, and it could just be a Overclocked cortex A8, maybe to 1-1.2Ghz? So the 1.5Ghz could be the CPU+GPU speeds combined.

From reading the Chipset will be 1Ghz Arm 8 + Mali 400 GPU but th SOC will have extra processors and so it may use the AX1 SOC http://www.allwinnertech.com/product/a1x.html

$160 inc P&P is not bad.... but then again the JXD looks nice as its cheap price $90 delivered could be a winner.

Hi i got the Yinlips YGDP18.

You can have it for 119$ from http://www.etronixmart.com/yinlips-ydpg18-wifi-android-game-console-smart-mini-tablet-p-975.html

My first impress is that the touchscreen is slow to take the touch commands.

The emus is hard to make working, and the mame emu is a CPS1, CPS2 and NEOGEO emulator not a real MAME emulator.

But you got the Plant vs Zombie that a addictive game and the traditionnal Angrybirds.

It's hard to install the Android Market on it (he did'nt work also at this moment).

I'm dreaming that a great patch will come from Yinlips to fix all this problems.

imho, if the jxd s601 or the yinlips g18 is not good enough for you, wait for jxd's response ;D

Yes i know the YDP G18 can be had for cheaper and its screen is not that responsive compared to the JXD which also has Andriod 2.3

Hence this Andriod in the thread is a NEW one, with higher CPU, New Screen and newer Andriod OS so the one for $160 is a YDP G18 MK2 so to speak... the same site has the Original ones for $130

Its seems what held back the YDP G18 was the Screen and not having Andriod 2.3+ They thus changed those and added a faster CPU.

I'm just going to repost what I wrote in the other thread about this "boxchip a10"

Quote
a single core cortex a8 @ 1ghz is roughly the same processing power as a single core a9 @ 800mhz with with a tip of the hat to the A9... you will probably not notice a significant difference in day to day use though.

I'd still go with the A9 if I had the choice... a8 @ 800mhz vs a8 @1Ghz... really wouldn't bother a complete upgrade for that

http://www.arm.com/products/processors/cortex-a/cortex-a9.php

http://www.arm.com/products/processors/cortex-a/cortex-a8.php

EDIT: you can do more using less cycles = better battery life

EDIT2: looks like the "upgrade" is actually step back for them.... gotta love the mhz marketing game

EDIT3: BOXCHIP A10 ≠ cortex a10 (goes from a9 -> a15) ... is a cortex a8.... more marketing

Intresting.... so a bit like the P2 to P3 the P3 was newer and better tech, not going y just Mhz.

I am not sure that for Andriod which i dont think as its not coded to be optimised for any one system, i dont think there would be much difference in CPU power so the weaker ARM8 vs Better ARM9 with lower CPU speed, may not make a massive difference in use.

What i mean is i dont think (provided RAM and GPU the same) that either CPU would make a big difference in most Emulators.

So the biggest advantage of this device is better screen and newer Andriod which in itself is a improvement on some of the bugs with the orginal YDP G18

But then again when looking at a $160 compared to $130 for the Original (Andriod 2.2) model maybe its a worthwhile extra $30 spent. But when you look at the JXD S601 for $90 i think bang for buck the $70 saving means it could be the JXD s601 is the better to go for.

So SNESFAN as a cheaper alternative to getting a Play. Would you say going for 1) JXD s601, 2) YDP G18 V1, 3) YDP G18 v2 Upgrade.

that's actually the exact order I would rate these at

raw horsepower is noticeable but not particularly at these levels... one thing I'm curious about is what gpu the yinlips upgrade uses, the original mali-400 is a decent gpu at today's standards, not sure what they could be using that's 500mhz to complete the 1ghz + 500mhz = 1.5Ghz

I wouldn't exactly dismiss this as advertising just yet... I'd just be very skeptical until more is known

I do agree you would see a noticeable increase in performance from 2.2 -> 2.3 ext4 was a nice general improvement in overall performance

Considering Lotiyo already make an Android Console the T8(Yinlips clone). I'd really like them to release an Android console in their T6 case.

Put Android 2.3 on this and I'd have my next emulator console. For sure. ;D
Dual analogue for Psx and FPS ports like Quake.

That T8 does have 2 Analog sticks like the Vita, which could come in handy for some Andriod FPS or OnLive Games, and also usefull for any PC ports just as Quakes, Dooms and Duke Nukems etc.

Depends on price, build quality (controlls, screen) the Specs and off course the OS i.e Andriod version.

The JXD s601 looks like its doing well, ticks most boxes, could have done with HDMI and Dual Analogs but apart from that its hard to knock the device.

The upgrade YDP looks decent, ok maybe the SOC/CPU is not a major upgrade, but more responsive screen and Andriod 2.3 are good improvements.

However its hercules heel could be price compared to the JXD that being $150 compared to $90 now price would not matter if the YDP proved to be better built, less buggy and higher spec but really there is nothing or little in it, but there is a big difference in price.

Whether the dual analogue nubs are actually of any use for aiming is an entirely different story though. It's all well and good having 2 analogues but unless they're of decent quality (like the 3DS one) then they might as well not be there.

The PSP one is a good idea badly implemented IMO, it's far too twitchy and has too little travel to be of any use where precision is required. Not too keen on everyone copying that design tbh. The 3rd party replacement stick sets on eBay help quite a bit with the PSP, when I get my JXD I'll see if the stick is detachable and if they fit or not.
Handhelds:
GPD XD 64gb, 3DS XL, DSi XL, GBA SP, GBBC Clone, Gameboy Pocket, PSP Go
Consoles:
XBox360, Wii, PS2 Slim, PSOne
PC:
HP Touchsmart 11 (AMD A6)
Voyo A1 Mini
Psion 5 & 5MX

I thought the 3DS Analog was fine....... i have yet to try though got a 3DS for Xmass but not opened it yet.... as its the Blue one, i wanted black lol.... Mind you i am a funny sod, i used to play with my black Dingoo for like 10-15 hours a week untill it died.... i have two White Dingoos but have not played on them for ages lol.

I have a white Netbook and hardly use that aswell, its been used about 3-4 times since Xmass  :o

I could have had a Xperia Play White for 130 in used but good condition, had it been Black i would have got it.

So i just a silly billy, and whats even worse is i am always complaining and moaning about the dust and finger prints etc on all my black stuff (i.e TV, Computer etc etc).

Anyway back to topic  :) I would have thought that a hombrew device with the bottom half of the 3DS inc all its buttons and D-Pad/Analog stck, and ease of replacing and getting to the Battery as a 3DS would be a design thats hard to beat.

If Dingoo Digital did well and made a true sucsessor to the Dingoo A320 i think a design like the bottom half of the 3DS would have done it justice and been fantastic.
