Their X16 handheld was almost good- the right size, good form factor, but ran like a dog. I'm intrigued by this, though.

About the same processing power as the original XD.

Old XD has better single and multi core performance than MTK8163. And Xd+ with MTK8176 is about twice single core than this one. 8163 has the advantage over old xd of being 64 bit and android 7 though

Hm... a GPD XD lite =D
For People who don't have a big budget.

I think for Emulation to the PSX-era it is okey.

Just seen this on a YT video (just a guy talking about it, no footage or anything). Looks like cool option for less money than the XD, good to have an alternative at that price range.
Handhelds:
GPD Win, GPD XD 64gb, Pap KIII-Plus, RS-97, RS-90, New Bittboy, 3DS XL, DSi XL, GBA SP, GBBC Clone, Gameboy Pocket, PSP Go,
PC:
HP Envy M6, Acer 522, Dell Mini 9
Psion 5 & 5MX
Tons of other old laptops and tablets.....

Its worthless currently.
No vulkan and the screen only runs at 51hz.
Theoretically it could be fixed with software assuming they aren't using some junk screen but powkiddy doesn't respond to the email contact on their website.
Unless the screen refresh is fixed this is a big waste of money unless all you want to do is play pal games.

I dont care about vulkan, i am a 16-bit guy, but i am worried about  51 Hz you mentioned. It means that usa/jp roms play slowly and with graphical gliches? Why would anyone build such a useless gameing device?

First known gameplay footage of the unit is here.

Honestly, I?m impressed for about $120. N64 emulation and PPssPp.

The refresh thing may be overstated to a lot of gamers as well. That said, I hope they improve that but very cool and promising.

Update: Wicked Gamer has done an unboxing and review.

When the refresh-rate is really 51 Hz then it is not overstated...

And the "reviews" from Wicked Gamer are to superficial in my opinion.

Refresh rate of 51 hz is just not right for a minimum accurate emulation, unless people don't care to play with frameskip or audio/video stuttering or jerkyness.

I take it the sub 60hz refresh rate issue can be fixed in software?

Impossible to know without seeing kernel code and the possibility of compiling a new one.

It's so odd that this keeps being an issue in new devices, it's such a novice mistake to make.

In addition to the 51hz refresh rate observed, a user is claiming some button mapping issues related to holding down 3 or more buttons at the same time doing more than that and also activating the 4th button. This was observed in a button mapping test. It?s probably not going to happen a lot in most games but it?s another thing the X18 will need to revise.

So there are some problems with the buttons when you push all at the same time, which is never.

I wanna see real emulation videos, show how the v sync tearing is!
