Oh that's right, is there a big independant developer following for the 7100?

back light and screen size are still the number one battery killer, next is CPU, gpu and then ram, and other sensors when it comes to power draw in that order.

Higher Res will be more demanding on the gpu and slightly higher on CPU it has to process basically twice as many pixels ... don't expect half performance or battery life but every little bit effects things and they all add up

JXD s7100 has following on Apad forums, I hop back and forth here cause I have both that and the s601. I'm going to end up selling both and buying one of these new models.

I wish we could get more info on this thing.

Hello there,
I registered today because I contacted the italian ebay seller and asked him if the S5100 is already available and if it has shoulder buttons. His answer:

This item will be again available in re-stock mid-May. Not have Shoulder Button.  >:(

I just cannot believe this but it looks like they have done the same mistake again. I'm sorry guys.

That's some wishful thinking going on in your picture.  I don't see anything resembling a shoulder button in that picture.

I think if JXD leaves off shoulder buttons, it should have 6 action buttons - ABC-XYZ, would be great for arcade and Sega

i talked to that same ebay seller , about the JXD 5110 (vita shaped) asking if he had in black, and he said he did not know as he could not open the box , and that factory makes them random.... (which i thought was just weird).

And then he said that he wont be getting any Jxd 5100 (3ds) until some time this month (may), So me thinks he might not be the best person to listen to, it clearly sounds like he has not held an actual 5100 in his hands.

Whats the best email for jxd ? (like one someone has got a reply from) we could just go to the source and email them direct and ask ?

The more I look at this unit, the more I think it's just the S7100 in a new/different body.  Both appear to use the same launcher.  Both appear to lack shoulder buttons.  Both have the same button layout (except the dpad and analog have switched places on the 5100).  Think about it.  These companies thrive on releasing the same thing over and over again with minor upgrades.  This one has a smaller screen and is probably resistive to keep the price down.

That said, I will take this dpad over the 4 individual buttons on the other models any day of the week.  And the build quality *seems* to be really solid.  I guess time will tell.  But without shoulder buttons, what's the point?

Well i said before there will be two models in this size one with a 5inch screen and one with a 4.3 inch screen
i think the 5inch is said to be 5 point multi touch , no idea about the 4.3 model.

really it all comes down to shoulder buttons , it needs them badly.

The s5100 deluxe ($150) has a 5-point capacitive screen, while the s5100 "practical"(lol) and the s603 both have 2 point resistive screens. I do not believe any of them to have shoulder buttons.

Also not having shoulder buttons on my s7100 is not a problem at all (for me at least) because of the presence of the capacitive touch screen.
