cheapest android device with decent speed?
« on: June 03, 2012, 09:36:49 pm »
since im selling my jxd s601 i am looking for a new android console to play with :D
the thing is... my budget is very limited. first i was looking forward to the jxd s603, but they rised their price by about 30 bucks (wtf).
i would also like to build my own handheld based on a phone/tablet, but then it would require otg (and possibly android 4.0).
it should be able to run castlevania: sotn at playable speed (that is the heaviest thing i NEED to play :p),
everything else doesnt really matter :p
and it shouldnt be too big, 5 inches is my personal maximum for gaming devices.

i dont want to request you to search for something, but maybe one of you knows some nice gadget that i could use ;D

ps: i was also looking at tv-boxes... those are quite nice to make into a handheld :D (at least if they got av-out)

Maybe the Mele a2000 is a good option. There is a good community around it. I has android 4.0 (beta firm yet) and even runs ubuntu.

Via 8650 is really slow, and has no GPU. There are some decent allwinner tablets for about 80 dollars, but maybe are expensive and they are 7 inch, which perhaps is too big.

How much is the money you want to spent? Because this is important to know. The mele a2000 or some Amlogic TV box are nice, and not very expensive, but cheaper than that it's difficult to find a good system.

the old YINLIPS G18 may be a good alternative.
is resistive, and monotouch, but if you want to play a PSX game, may be enought

another alternative, YINLIPS G16

and the JXDS601 self

another way is to buy a sencond hand device.
and yes... your budget is a little bit limited.

I have both the s601 and the s5110, and for pure gaming, I prefer the s601 over the s5110 (in terms of peformance). However, the s5110 runs Android 4.0, have OTG and USB gamepad support which is great, and much more better screen.

well, i prefer S5110 than S601. are very similar in performance, but S5110 is 5" piezoelectric screen (and multitouch)
