Hi there,

I own a Big Ben Gametab One (a rebrand of an Ipega Android handheld) and I think it is okay. But the firmware really is extremely slow and bloated.

Big Ben never released their source code or opened it for custom development as far as I know. Aside from installing custom firmware on my old Xperia S a few years ago I have no experience in custom ROMs whatsoever especially not in making one myself.

But I am making a vocational training as a software developer. So therefore I would like to know how hard is it to make my own leightweight custom ROM for such a device myself. I mean there so many Custom ROMs on XDA Developpers and if I can rely on other custom ROMs for similar chipsets is it possible to realize this without a huge amount of effort?

It was a RK3188 right? If there is no source code, you can extract image and at least debloat the content or include root for example but more than that is complicated without code. If you use windows you can use RK3XXX tools by Sergio Powerony,

it's an easy tool to unpack/repack rockchip images. Do you have at least a firmware in update.img format to begin with?

By the way, the firmware for that bigben was made by GPD (LOL), but they bloated it as always,....

But i dont know how patching sourse luijji kernel kitkat and i have sorse 3.0.101 kernel 3188 tablet and firmware 5.1.1 aosp rk3188 tablet
Can you patch kernel )? Its best gift for not reach kids in new 2020 years , it realy happy new year)

Very nice ~~ However, I flash BigbenGTO.img to my gametab one, It keeps looping the opening screen, and I can only see a black screen with a word "android" in the middle, It cannot access the system
