Sounds like an old sunplus based device. At that price, you should probably avoid it.
(also laughing at the infrared controller)

Must say this is kind of cool as android 4.0 supports usb Gamepads out the box so you can use it as a mini console :-)

Edit: Ordered lol

...just remember it's Chinese -> no source, so it'll take some dedicated people with enough spare time to get it really modifiable or even capable of running something other than Android 4.0.

But just for emulation might be OK, if it can be rooted and get market installed.

I'm still up for the cotton candy, but I want to see how much source they put out first AND that the binary blobs get distributed a fashion that the driver kernel modules can be rebuilt for different kernel versions fairly easily ala ATI/nVidia GPU driver packages. (Expecting some good sw support for $200...)

[EDIT]
Wow! They sold the first batch out already.  I'm guessing raspi orderers who want something right now snapped them up.

No idea yet as to exactly what kind of software support FXI will give.

OTOH it's pretty likely zero devices or whomever really makes that China stick will NEVER intentionally release any source code, but it's less than half the price of Cotton Candy, but almost double raspi.  The MK802 is easily more powerful than the raspi and should be available again in a few weeks.

Really I'd say it's up to you if you'd be happy always likely just having Android 4.0 and maybe root + play store someday...

Me on these things I'd rather have source and the possibility of running a linux distro, so I'm still inclining for Cotton Candy, but MAY end up picking up something like this to see if it's useful.  At the very least I could turn it into a franken android TV + emulator box...

Raspberry Pi's only real advantage is exposure of hw I/O -> hardware projects fairly easily, so I might still pick up one of those once they're actually available in quantity.

(The last time, a few weeks ago, that I trawled through the Android TV settop boxes on DX, I ended up opting to not experiment with one given that I knew that source release likelihood was virtually non-existent and decided to wait for something like cotton candy or another Google TV iteration...)

yeah I'm not looking for linux I'm just looking for something that can emulate gab and maybe n64 full speed that supports at least 2 controllers so pretty much either one of those sticks would work I'm just not sure which one

I think that for "good" N64 you'll want the one listed here or Cotton Candy.  I don't think that RasPi's ARM11 CPU is likely up to the job at the level you're probably looking for... but you never know, check their forums.

To do two controllers it'd need to be able to work OTG with a hub, so since you're going to have to wait anyways wait and see if someone(first batch) tests it for you or ask them to as I'm sure someone will have gotten in on the first batch from one of the emulator boards...

You're still going to have to wait for one, so no rush ATM...
