I figured I'd just chime in here.  I just received my Moto Z2 Play and so far, I'm pretty happy with it.  Verizon was offering their version of the phone at $5/24 months, discounting the phone from $408 to $120.  At that price, I figured what the heck.  I laid down the $80 to pre-order the gamepad as well, which they say will ship 8/25.  I probably would have preferred the Z2 Force, but I didn't want to get saddled with paying for an unlimited data plan which would have effectively doubled my monthly bill.  So at $120, I'm really happy with this mid-tier phone, especially since it's a good spec-jump from my previous phone (the Sony Xperia z3v).  If any of you have any questions about the phone, I'll be happy to answer them.
That?s a great deal.  I would have jumped at it also.  I should see what T-Mobile has for deals.  I have a digits virtual line that I could probably trade the S7 Edge on.  After financing my new iPad Pro 10.5 256GB though, wife might veto it.  Maybe I will see if I can pay a few hundred off on it this month before checking.

Have you purchased any modular stuff for it yet?

Other than pre-ordering the gamepad, no.  Despite being attracted to some of them (the sound boost, the projector) I don't really plan to.  I mean, I'd like to buy a backplate so the pins in the back aren't exposed.  I was actually really surprised that it didn't come with one.  It feels like the back of the phone is "naked" and I'm worried about accidentally damaging the pins.  So I'll probably buy a backplate for when I want to remove the gamepad.

I pre-ordered the MOTO Z2FORCE from Verizon. The projector deal was too good to pass up. At a $299 value, plus Verizon also offered their own promotion, in which they would remove $396 off the purchase price of the phone if paid over the 24 month period at $15 a month.
https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/moto-z2-force/

Honestly, it's just another version of a 2 year contract deal, since, if you try to pay the device off before hand, the $396 rebate is voided, i.e.: early termination fee.

But, it works out well since I'm buying a Verizon device, which can only be used on Verizon.

At any rate, T-Mobile is offering a BUY 1, GET ONE FREE, ALONG WITH THE Moto Projector
https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/moto-z2-force-edition

Sprint is offering LEASE 1 DEVICE, GET A SECOND LEASE FREE, along with the Moto Projector

AT&T however, I'm not sure what they are offering. Probably something to do with Direct TV. From what I can understand, it's Direct TV for $10 a month. Doesn't remotely compare to the other carrier deals IMO.

The Moto projector seems to be a Moto deal, not a carrier, but pre-ordering from any carrier would approve. Just have to submit the IMEI number of the device, along with other information. So you won't be able to submit your claim until you receive the device. It's also a while supplies last situation.

Okies, cool. I too am very puzzled by the fact that a backplate didn't with it in the box.

So I'm now reading that the gamepad is a Verizon exclusive.  Can anyone else find a place selling it?

Just finally got around to pre-ordering my gamepad mod. I'm excited to have a functional gaming solution on my phone again.

On a side note, for anyone considering the Z2 Play, they were (I think still are) running a promotion on that to get a free jbl speaker mod as well. Not as cool as the projector for the force, but something. I think it runs thru the 9th of this month. Mine just shipped today.

So reviews are coming in on both the Z2 Play and Z2 Force. While the Force is obviously the higher spec phone, it looks like the Play is winning the quality competition. The Force's screen may not shatter, but it sure does scratch. A screen protector is a must. The Play also has more battery life.

Can't find it now but I heard the Z2 Play isn't using 64-bit build of Android and thus, Dolphin doesn't work.

Yes. That was me who confirmed that. Only an ancient version of dolphin will even install and is pretty unplayable due to the age of the build.

If kernel Code is available someone can make a 64 bit versi?n of Android, unless some propietary binary blobs avoid that.

From what I've seen with the original Moto ZPlay, we'll be lucky to get root, especially the Verizon models. Here's hoping though! Tincore would work nicely with that Gamepad mod.

I've been reading that the 32GB version of the Moto Z2 Play has 3GB RAM and the 64GB (unlocked) version of the Moto Z2 Play has 4GB RAM.  Does anyone know if the 64GB is also running a 32 bit OS?  Just wondering if the 32 bit version of the OS could be a Verizon thing.

Yeah! Got it on the 9th. I can see now that the Gamepad will make this one longer than the W3D. I'll do some side by sides once the Gamepad ships. Afterward, guess I'll be putting all my other past Gaming phones up for sale.

For anyone else who has pre-ordered the gamepad mod from Verizon, are you able to check the status of your order? I stupidly placed my order as a guest instead of with a Verizon account as my line is a new conversion and I hadn't setup the account at that time. Long story short, I have my confirmation email and order number but when I input the information on the status page (order number and last name) is says it can't find the order and asks for a location code, which does not exist on my confirmation. I called Verizon and they couldn't locate it either based on the information I provided but mentioned it might be due to it being a pre-order/backorder and not a regular order that's ready to go. The other odd thing I noticed, is in the email confirmation I received, my last name is not present on the bill to address, but is on the ship to address. The printed confirmation page I got after placing the order has all the information on it though. Anyone else experiencing this or a similar problem?

I planned to pre-order mine tonight, but I also saw it said backorder instead of pre-order, so I assume all the original stock has been pre-ordered. I already have my account set up and device activated so hopefully no issues arise. I did run into a similar issue when registering for my Moto Mod projector rebate. I had to register twice since the first time, I wasn't able to check status, not did I get a confirmation email, but after the second time, I got the confirmation, and am able to track it. I can also see the original order, so I hope that doesn't interfere with anything.

I'm about to pre-order the gamepad now, so if anything arises, I'l let you know.

Thanks! I hope you can score one. It seems just right for gaming. Although, I heard the dimensions are going to be long, about 9 inches wide, and almost an inch thick with the analog length. Gonna need deep pockets.
