Just a quick word of caution to anyone considering the Moto Z2 Play. Even though the processor is a 64 bit processor, Motorola has decided to install a 32 bit version of Android. This may not affect you, but one thing that it does affect is the dolphin emulator. The latest build/version will not install whatsoever. I did not realize this until after purchasing the phone, only to be disappointed. Everything else seems fairly solid so far though. Can't wait for the gamepad mod to come out already.

Ah crap, really! Would it be possible to install a 64bit Rom once the device is rooted, or boot loader unlocked? Not exactly a deal breaker, but with IOS going full on 64bit, I expected Android to already be on board.

By the way, I found some new videos of the Gamepad Mod, playing Implosion, which is a game I have struggled with to no avail on the Snail devices due to the Joystick driver issue. The part with Implosion is near the end, @1:47

This video shows a clearer view at the actual device and gamepad mod attached to each other. A look of sorts.

Oh you want videos?

Don't know the language on this one.

And this one is in English. An actual Lenovo executive is talking about the gamepad mod and mentions it has a battery and headphone jack.

Deal breaker?
Not necessarily a Deal breaker for me as I needed a new phone anyways and I get the Moto mod gamepad when it's released, but it would have been a nice tid bit of information to know ahead of time, especially since the tech specs say it's a 64 bit processor but mention nothing about the android build.

I certainly hope someone comes out with a 64 bit rom that works for this phone as I'm sure it could benefit more than just the dolphin emulator.

Did you happen to see if any of the Mod compatible devices have a 64bit ROM Installed?

No I didn't. If any of them do, I'd venture to say the straight Moto Z or the upcoming Moto Z2 (not the play) may have a 64 bit OS, but for compatibility sake, they may have stuck with 32. From a design standpoint, that would make the most sense as they have developed an entire ecosystem that's compatible with each other, so why have to design the interface twice?

Hi all! New video concerning the Moto Gamepad Mod!

https://www.androidcentral.com/moto-gamepad-mod-hands

The size reminds me of the W3D, so it should feel right at home!

While they still haven't announced an official release date, it's still touted for this summer, which has a month and a half left. However, maybe they are taking the time to make their own button mapper for games without gamepad support.

Early hand's on to the gamepad looks pretty interesting.  Would prefer to keep it docked all the time, might have to figure out a better way to carry it around.

I agree, especially since it doesn't block any of the phone features. I was a bit worried about the magnet connection. I would rather something more like the Logitech powershell, but since they made the device slimmer, the fit should be better.

The analogs do seem to protrude a bit more than I was comfortable with. Not a deal breaker by any means though. I just wish they would give an official release date for it.

I'm thinking of creating some type of wristband to carry the gamepad.  I'm not one for carrying backpacks.

Failing that, creating some type of waist pouch built to hold the sucker complete

Depending on how well it's held in there, I may just permanently leave the phone in there, because that Snapdragon 835'd Z2 Force looks real nice.

Apparently it's *exclusive* to Verizon.

meaning you can only buy it *from* Verizon.  It'll work on any though.

haha.
