Street Fighter III 3rd Strike is one of my favorite fighting games and runs very well on the Nvidia Shield using RetroArch v0.9.9.6.

Since finding the correct ROM files and setting up the button mapping can be a pain in the ass, here's some (hopefully) useful info.  :)

These are the correct ROM files you need in sfiii3.zip for the FBA core...

Since the default button layout is not ideal for Street Fighter games (hard punch/kick on L/R), here's an alternative button mapping.

These RetroArch Custom Binds...

Maps the Shield buttons as following...

And now beat them all...

similar to my default setup.

in my case, in 4 button layout (and triggers) i use

L1= MK
R1 = MP

      {Y}
{X}      {B}
      {A}

A=LK
B=HK
X=LP
Y=HP

i prefer this config, because is similar to arcade machine where buttons are ordered from L, M, H (from left to right), and top buttons are punch and low are kicks, and change Medium buttons by Hard buttons, because games such Marvel vs Capcom uses Light and Hard buttons more intensive than Mediums (for starting juggles)

anyway, nice config! ;D

similar to my default setup.

This is also my default setup on other devices (except L1/R1). But since the Shield pad is so big, it's more comfortable to have HP/HK on X/A.

With the new version 1.2.2 of RetroArch, I was motivated to investigate in RA override config files.

This feature allows to have individual configurations such as button mappings for specific games. Very handy.  8)

Here a configuration example for "Street Fighter III 3rd Strike" for the "FB Alpha" core with the same button mapping as in the first post.

1. Rename the attached config file "sfiii3.txt" to "sfiii3.cfg" and put it into directory "Internal Storage\Android\data\com.retroarch\files\FB Alpha", if RetroArch is installed in the internal storage.

2. Make sure the following options are configured in RA Settings -> Configuration.

3. Now, when you start SF III 3rd Strike, you should see the following (yellow) message.

Note: The attached config file also sets the video "Aspect Ratio Index" to "Core provided".

If you want the same config for other Street Fighter games, just copy "sfiii3.cfg" to the other game names like "sf2.cfg", "sf2ce.cfg", "ssf2.cfg" etc.

And of course, this method also works on other Android devices.

My main motivation was to use it on the Wii version of RA. Let me know if you're interested in such an example config file.
