I agree, I've only just started prophets guile and that seems pretty good too. Radical dreamers is another in the chrono series but I thought it was so different being a story driven game that it took awhile to get into. Glad I did. Drill dozer is another that I got soon after my dingoo that is fantastic. But going back to hacks super mario unlimited is fab! Also the translated version of castlevania 3(j trans to eng) doesn't have the sound glitch, just don't watch the intro as it crashes but plays well anyway.

One more to add to the list. E.V.O. Search For Eden. Basically you are given free reign over your animal to evolve it as you see fit through EXP by defeating other animals, and the goal is to survive all of prehistory. You start with a fish, and eventually move on up to land and air. It's a pretty interesting game, especially considering what time this was put out at.

Well I never Knew this existed! Just found a Panzer Dragoon for the little Game Gear, check it out:

Not brilliant, kinda like a slower paced hybrid of Space Harrier and Afterburner with an odd feeling movement/aiming system. Worth a play though, I was a big fan of the original and old school rail/tunnel shooters in general. Japanese only but as you might guess this isn't a game with a lot of reading.

Been playing a Gameboy game called "Max" recently, video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Alieo6vV8Dw

Nice little platform game with elements of Bionic Commando.

Another great Gameboy game which some of you might not know about, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Neat little single screen platform/puzzle game with elements of Bombjack. Gets difficult towards the end but loads of fun with really tight controls.

Also recently I've been checking out alternate versions of games I used to play. The Gamegear Ninja Gaiden games are totally different from the others (I was expecting a MS port) so they're definitely worth playing.

I was also pleasantly surprised with the Gameboy version of Marble Madness which seems to have much easier controls than the MS version I had, well I die a lot less now anyway!

Also been playing the Lynx version of Pacland, a game I used to love back when I spent all my pocketmoney in arcades. It's got standard controls compared to the bizarre Nes/PCE versions so it's miles more playable on the Dingoo (the other versions require me to hold the JXD upside down!)
Handhelds:
JXD S7300b, Dingoo, DS Lite, GBA SP, PSP, HTC One X, HTC Dream.
Netbooks/Palmtops:
Acer 522 (4gb ram) Radeon 6310 - MSI Wind U230 (4gb ram and DTV card installed)
Psion Series 5 and 5mx, Psion Series 3 and Psion Siena

For me hands down, The Misadventures of Flink on Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. It's a 2D scrolling platform game.

Chrono Trigger: The Crimsom Echoes was acutally one of the most well made hacks i ever played in my life. Things get quite hard after some time on it.

Only thing that sucks on it is that Chrono speaks...

Oh thank YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH !!!
I just finished Chrono Trigger and thought that Crono Cross will be my next stop when my JXD S601 arrives.
BUT now I can have MORE FUN !

THX ;D
NI !

What gems have i discovered...? Too many to name here. Probably at least 70% of the 4 gigs on the main memory is now filled with great games from the past that i missed out on.

But here are a few off the top of my head:

- 3D Asteroids (Atari 7800)
- Space Invaders (GBC)
- Wonderboy series (SMS, GG, MD)
- Adventure Island 4 (NES)
- Famicom Grand Prix II - 3D Hot Rally (Famicom Disk System)
- Keropi & Keroleen's Splash Bomb! (NES)
- BS Chrono Trigger - Music Library (SNES)
- Super Space Invaders (GG)
- Star Wars (Japanese - Namco) (NES)
- Super Bomberman 3 - 5 (SNES)
- Mother 3 (fan translation) (GBA)
- Silent Hill Play Novel (GBA)
- Tales of Phantasia (SNES)
- Bomberman Jetters (GBA)

and on, and on, and on... :)

I am absolutely crazy about Astro Boy - Omega Factor for GBA. I'm not a huge fan of Astro Boy in other contexts, but this beat-em-up/shooter/platform was made by Treasure, makers of such classics as Gunstar Heroes and Ikaruga. No licensed game should be this absurdly fun.

Astro Boy GBA is a great game, till goes pretty cheap on eBay too. IIRC it was release just before the Gunstar Heroes GBA game and I couldn't decide which one to get!

I know it's bad manners to revive old topics, but I felt I just had to give my 2 cents.

It's dificult to pick one, especially when you consider that fan translations have helped big time to the discovery of unsung gems.

For me, it has to be "Ambermoon" for Amiga:

Not at all, the total opposite here in fact. This thread should never die!

Although it's not exactly undiscovered (although it is a bit undervalued) I've been playing loads of Colin McRae Rally on the Playstation - via the JXD s601 of course. Such a quality title, it's fast becoming my favourite racing game and is incredibly addivtive.

Never really gave it much thought before but it's been played to death this past week. Similar story with the 3rd game on the PS2, equally brilliant and one of the best looking games on the console IMO, certainly the nicest looking racer (GT4 included).

Best thing is they both cost £1 each!

I never really got into shoot 'em ups in general until I found Touhou, and then I found a bunch of other shmups such as the Parodius series. It wasn't until last year that I realized how many great shmups are on the 360. Nobody ever talks about them! I got DeathSmiles and Otomedius Excellent (Special Editions) for Christmas last year, but I didn't play them much because I was too busy playing some other game I was told would be great... so much for that. :(

I would say, clone consoles and open/Android handhelds are gems in and of themselves. It's great to be able to get new systems for cheap without having to wait for more games to play on them. :)
