--- Quote from: raygan on May 14, 2012, 06:02:13 AM ---I am absolutely crazy about Astro Boy - Omega Factor for GBA. I'm not a huge fan of Astro Boy in other contexts, but this beat-em-up/shooter/platform was made by Treasure, makers of such classics as Gunstar Heroes and Ikaruga. No licensed game should be this absurdly fun.

Astro Boy GBA is a great game, till goes pretty cheap on eBay too. IIRC it was release just before the Gunstar Heroes GBA game and I couldn't decide which one to get!

I know it's bad manners to revive old topics, but I felt I just had to give my 2 cents.

It's dificult to pick one, especially when you consider that fan translations have helped big time to the discovery of unsung gems.

For me, it has to be "Ambermoon" for Amiga:

Anyone into puzzle games should check out Polarium and ClacQ (homebrew) for the GBA.

You should be able to find some forgotten gems between these two lists:

Not at all, the total opposite here in fact. This thread should never die!

Although it's not exactly undiscovered (although it is a bit undervalued) I've been playing loads of Colin McRae Rally on the Playstation - via the JXD s601 of course. Such a quality title, it's fast becoming my favourite racing game and is incredibly addivtive.

Never really gave it much thought before but it's been played to death this past week. Similar story with the 3rd game on the PS2, equally brilliant and one of the best looking games on the console IMO, certainly the nicest looking racer (GT4 included).

Best thing is they both cost £1 each!

Chex:
I never really got into shoot 'em ups in general until I found Touhou, and then I found a bunch of other shmups such as the Parodius series. It wasn't until last year that I realized how many great shmups are on the 360. Nobody ever talks about them! I got DeathSmiles and Otomedius Excellent (Special Editions) for Christmas last year, but I didn't play them much because I was too busy playing some other game I was told would be great... so much for that. :(

I would say, clone consoles and open/Android handhelds are gems in and of themselves. It's great to be able to get new systems for cheap without having to wait for more games to play on them. :)
