Retro videogames that deserved a sequel but never got one

Growing up in the 80s, i didn't get to play all of the greatest NES games that were released.
I've been playing catch up, like many other videogame enthusiasts, and have recently been enamored with the game "Moon Crystal" for the NES.

I keep coming back to it time and again for it's great balance of platforming, action, it's great music and graphics as well as it's challenge factor.

If you are an NES fan and haven't played it, this is one of those classic videogames that deserves some of your time.
Simply not to be missed.
Highly deserving of a sequel, but never treated to one.

What is a cherished retro videogame that YOU feel highly deserves a sequel but never got one?

Glover almost got a sequel, but it was canned. Seemed to have a more Banjo-esque feel and more actual storytelling, which could have been very cool.

Also not really retro, but I wish SEGA would make a Billy Hatcher sequel/remake.
YOU GONNA GET CHEX'D

A lot of Amiga games I used to love never got sequels. Games like Walker, Apidya, Agony and Gods.

Also quite a few of my favourite games from the Master System and Gameboy era got really disappointing sequels that weren't a patch on the original. I was totally gutted when I finally got to play Rastan II, what an utter turd of a game that does away with everything that made the original so good.
Handhelds:
JXD S7300b, Dingoo, DS Lite, GBA SP, PSP, HTC One X, HTC Dream.
Netbooks/Palmtops:
Acer 522 (4gb ram) Radeon 6310 - MSI Wind U230 (4gb ram and DTV card installed)
Psion Series 5 and 5mx, Psion Series 3 and Psion Siena

Yeah, i hear you.

I suppose when something like this occurs, the best we can hope for is a good REMAKE.

Take the newest fan-made Metroid II remake.
That baby looks sweet!
The guy's still working on it at this time, and has been for quite awhile, but it seems to be well worth his time.
I believe it is a labor of love for him.

Anyone ever wonder why the companies who own these games don't remake their own classic top hits?

I suppose they're too busy catering to the newer generation of gamers, leaving all the fans who put them on the map to begin with out in the cold... 3(

- Shadowrun for either SNES or Genesis. Both games, though very different, were very good, and deserving of a proper sequel (not the shitty mess of a FPS that was released by FASA Studio on 2007).
Fortunately, there's a very interesting project on kickstarter for bringing a true RPG Shadowrun game to PC and tablets, which already arrived to thier goal, and got more than three times the budget they were originally raising:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1613260297/shadowrun-returns.

- Demon's Crest for the SNES. Man, this game was great, and deserves more lovin'.
- Ambermoon, for amiga.
- ActRaiser. Tecnically, there *is* an ActRaiser 2, but like Shadowrun above, it lost it's essence -what made it fun.
- Tyrian for DOS.
- Magic Sword for Arcade.
- Skyblazer for SNES.

Chrono trigger needed a better sequal than it got. Chrono cross was good but too unrelated to the first story for my liking. Never "played" radical dreamers (iirc the name?) But that was just a non playable book in a game that actually was related to the first story.... problem was.... you couldnt play it.

I wouldnt have hated a rock n roll racing remake on a next gen device. Not really a "sequal" but I'd take it.

Final fantasy 7 could have used a much better sequal than that garbage psp release.

Lufia (snes) got its prequal (lufia2) that was great.... then a sequal that decent(gba)... and then another sequal that was garbage(gbc)... and then another sequal that was kinda in between prequal and original game story wise that wasnt *horrible* (nds) but the story is so loose between the franchise and sometimes non existant, I think it needs fixed.

so my request would be to make a *good* full scale lufia remake that starts from the beginning of the franchise story and on one platform and one publisher tells the complete story correctly

I was dissapointed that Kid Chameleon on Megadrive never got the sequel it deserved. For me it was one of those games that was more than the sum of its parts.

I'd love to see Nintendo make a new Startropics.
Perhaps in the vein as the 3DS Kid Icarus game.
That'd be hot.
