Retro games/franchises you feel are overlooked
« on: September 27, 2015, 11:19:26 pm »
The majority of people always point to the same games whenever mentioning things that are recommended for people to check out, but are there any games on your lists that people might not know about? Whenever I go looking for retro games in stores, I try to pick up something I haven't really heard much of. This lead to me coming across The Ignition Factor for SNES which I have NEVER heard anyone talk about and is totally worth checking out.

Are there any games that you can think of that people might have missed out on or you feel just don't get enough love?
Do you know where I can find some sailors?

Oh wow, I've only seen videos of the Genesis port of Dark Castle. That one looks awesome, especially with that art style!

Mr. Ghost on MSX and MSX2

It's amazing that they never got ported to other systems because they're amazing.

Alex Kidd

This one might have been rightfully overlooked because only the first one was really good but damn, it was so good. I wish they would re-boot the franchise but it's been dead ever since SEGA decided that Sonic would be its mascot.

Finny the Fish

This game plays very similarly to Ecco the Dolphin. It's the only collaboration between Sony and SEGA that I'm aware of. It's very well made and not well known.

Also, Fantasy Zone, because the spin offs are pretty damn good but they get no respect.

Alex Kidd is something I never really messed around with until the last 5 or 10 years, but I absolutely love. I'm not going to say it's the best thing ever, but I never hear anyone mention it unless it's a Sega fan using Alex Kidd as a stepping stone to talk about how Sonic became their lead mascot. I think the thing I like about the games the most is how vivid the color and imaginative the world is.

For me, it was his Peticopter! So much fun.

Also the music you get with the motorcycle is so addictive.

Every time I see Alex Kidd, I have this instant reaction of wanting to yell out "BUT LOOK AT HOW COOL THAT GAME LOOKS!"

Annnnnnnnnnnnyway, speaking of Sega properties, I'm really surprised there hasn't been any sort of attempt at reviving Kid Chameleon. I bought that again I think a year ago and it still holds up as being pretty neat, even if it's pretty hard. I don't ever remember being blown away by the graphics or how the games movement felt, but there's just something awesome about transforming into so many different characters. I was also aware of Friday The 13th and Splatterhouse, even though I was never allowed to watch/play them at that age, but getting that hockey mask kind of filled that urge for me.

Look at how 90's cool that kid is! The only people that might rival him for coolness are the dudes in the Crossfire commercial, the guys on the cover of Rival Turf, and that early 90s Legomaniac kid (Zach?)

I'm guessing she meant Alex Kidd.

I was just browsing at my shelf of old games and... Does anyone remember Jet Force Gemini? I remember when it came out, I kept hearing kids I knew talk about it and I feel like I saw a lot of ads somewhere, but I haven't heard ANYONE mention it since around 2000.
