Framemeister XRGB-Mini
« on: August 16, 2013, 07:32:12 pm »
I want to share my latest retro gaming accessory for my numerous classic consoles, the Framemeister XRGB-Mini8)

This is an absolutely amazing upscaler unit, in order to play old consoles on modern LCD TVs. Not cheap, but worth every penny!

Here's a Framemeister review ---> http://retrogaming.hazard-city.de/framemeister.html

I've made screenshots with 3 different video signals on 720p HDMI output mode.

Click on the picture to view it in full resolution. The downscaled pictures don't show the scanlines properly.

Nintendo Super Famicom (JP) RGB Cable

Nintendo N64 (US) S-Video Cable

Nintendo NES (US) Composite Cable

As you can see, even with a composite signal, the picture is really amazing.  :o

The picture quality looks amazing, but does the filtering create any video delay (aka. input lag)?

From what I've read so far, there seems to be a minimal input lag. It also depends on the source signal and TV.

I quickly ran the manual input lag test from the 240p Test Suite on the Sega Mega Drive. I didn't recognize a difference between my Sony LCD and Philips CRT. But I'm really not a reference nor an expert. I wouldn't recognize an input lag of 1-2 frames.

But the Framemeister LCD picture is so much better compared to the CRT, that I will probably use my CRT only for some SAT and DC lightgun games in the future.
