Where did all the Chinese games consoles go??
« on: October 18, 2014, 12:25:11 am »
I noticed that DealExtreme no longer has a Video Games tab and after a quick look at some of the alternatives, it's pretty hard to find stuff there too. Of course Alibaba still has plenty, but I thought this is kinda weird.

Anyone else notice it? So strange. I hope the miscellaneous Chinese game console market didn't crash.

It didn't crash, but it's a lot smaller now that video games and consoles are legal in China now. Not as much of a demand I guess now that people don't have to buy pirated games and consoles :) Speaking of Chinese game consoles, did you ever happen to get your Xiaobawang s200?

Yes! It came in this weekend! It's an interesting device. Expect a video review in November, I've got a few other videos in the way at the moment.

The S200 was one of the reasons I made this post. I looked for it later and that seller no longer carries it. I was able to find a clone of it on Alibaba, I think it was called the S13 but it's a little more expensive.

I hope the Chinese Famiclones/clones/knock-offs and plug-n-plays don't go away, I'm fascinated by them. I'm even planning on making a video series where I look at the ones I've collected over the years.

It moved to the Consumer Electronics tab at dx.com.

I love videos like that, cant wait till you post it....

I buy dodgy consoles and handhelds because they interest me... My fav is the dingoo, but I like things that do things they shouldn't.... for example the Gamebox Advance. a GBA-SP clone that plays CPS1 roms.
Dingoo x2, GCW0, RS-97 x2, Revo-K101, RS-90, PSP, PSP Go, GameGadget, New 3DS 128GB, PS Vita 200GB RS-45, Gamebox Advance and a few other obscure devices

I've made the first video in a series that will look at Plug & Play consoles!

I'm going to try to upload another by this weekend, so stay tuned.

Also, just FYI to everyone here, I've started unboxing Indiebox games and since I don't have a steam account, I give my Steam Codes away for free in the videos! So if you're into indies, you might want to check that out.

Without doubt, Dingoo A320 was the best and most popular one. Are brand new units still being sold anywhere from reputable sellers? I would love to have another one

Ebay is going to be your best bet. Generally speaking, most stores now only carry the A380E.

I think I've discovered a new Pokemon ROM hack on the plug & play I reviewed yesterday. I'm familiar with other ROM hacks that have sprite swaps, but I've never seen this one.

Has anyone ever seen one like this?

Felt I needed to post this new video here because it's what my earlier quote is referring to and most might have missed it in the Android section.

Enjoy!

Most likely the carts are just pcb's that enable certain roms on the console to play. that's what the earlier PVP consoles were.
