Thanks lemmywinks...I've removed the link.

From what I can see, GBA is supported out of the box; but I'll confirm this once I receive it.

No problem gibberish. I agree....this isn't for everyone. I personally already have an Xperia Play and JXD S5110, and bought this purely Eachgame thing as an impulse, purely as a novelty.

fw should be one of these:
they contain a file with extension UPG.

Unless it's this one: http://jxdcc.yesigame.com/enupload/20110927/3000.rar  but 190MB seems a little big.

There is also: http://jxdcc.yesigame.com/enupload/chengxu/3000(7670).rar

and

hmm I canceled my order. I analyzed the firmware and it doesn't seem a linux/android mod friendly OS.

I think I'll wait for the archos gamepad or get a JXD 602 in the meanwhile.

I bit the bullet and bought 2 (got around the 1 item per customer limit by getting 1 red and 1 pink). If both work, one will go as a birthday present for my daughter. Also got a USB PC gamepad for $3.29 (at that price, I'll be happy if it just arrives intact) and a 16GB micro SD card with SD adapter for $12.43. Used the cheapest shipping method to US, so I guess I'll be lucky if the package arrives before the end of the year.  ???

Although I probably won't be doing much gaming on this once my GCW-0 arrives, I'll probably still be lugging this around too just to watch video on its 480*272 4.3'' TFT screen.

My order shipped yesterday (pretty quick for eachgame.com) but I'll be lucky if it arrives before Christmas.

At this price, I'm considering the unit to be essentially disposable. I'll fill it with GBA ROMS, a handful of choice PSX arcade games (Metal Slug, Xmen vs Street Fighter, etc), and maybe a couple of movies. My daughter will no doubt play it more than I do; and I certainly won't have much need for it once the JXD S7300 is in stock :)

I'll post my impressions once I have it in hand.

I remember seeing a youtube review of this one a while back. From what i remember it runes 4, 8, & 16 bit games really well.  It also ran the 2D PSX games pretty decently too.  For 20-30 dollars I don't think it's that bad of a deal since it has better build quality than other cheepie systems at that price range.

Freaking Eachgame! >:(
I thought I was getting in on this 'just in time' before the deal had ended yesterday, some of the models were already 'sold out' before I put my order in. But when I checked the scare buying page today I see them all back on sale for another 3 days, along with some ps3 controllers for $4-5 and some microSD -> USB adapters for $0! I guess they 'found' some extra stock, huh?  ::)

Ah well, I'm not very mad, hopefully having so many people playing with these will drum up more interest in linux for spmp8k devices8)

OK...I'm confused.

I'm probably missing the point here...but it appears that you're mad that Eachgame have additional stock of a product you already purchased.

If they'd dropped the price after you purchased, I'd understand.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Arrived today.

Pack included:
- EGP1000 unit
- Cloth carry bag
- Headphones
- 2xDVDs with PSX games
- TV cable
- USB cable
- Wall charger
- Instruction manual

First impressions:
- Build quality is surprisingly good. It actually feels more solid than my JXD S5110!
- Buttons feel nice. Not too spongy, not too stiff.
- The screen is definitely bright enough, with decent viewing angles. Again, slightly better than my JXD S5110. That's not really a fair comparison though, as this isn't a touch screen.
- Camera is awful, but that's to be expected.
- SNES, GBA, and PSX (2D) games run beautifully (haven't tried any 3D games, but know these run pretty badly).
- Volume buttons don't seem to respond very promptly when playing games, which can be frustrating as the speakers on this thing are damn loud!
- There's no obvious way to exit a game once you have started playing, except for the reset button.
- A bunch of games came pre-installed. Mostly GBA games, but some pretty good PSX games (Street Fighter Alpha 3, Metal Slug X). But there were also some really weirdly labelled SNES games (no idea what they are!).

Overall, I am totally surprised by how well made this product is. Of course, it'll never compete with any modern device; but for the price, this is really quite amazing.

I am not counting on it, but ... do games with special chips work in the snes emulator?

Hmm...not sure. Do you have any particular games in mind?

I'm more than happy to test.

I was mad because they had the website set up to make it look like their stock was running out faster than it actually was, trying to get people to put in an order without hesitation. "Scare buying" indeed!  ::)

Glad to hear it comes with a carry bag and other goodies. Most of the game players on eachgame have pictures of the box and pack-ins, but this one only had pictures of the device itself, and no mention of accessories in the product description. I was a bit afraid it would be just a bare system delivered in a generic packing box!

Now I'm itching to try it out, hope it doesn't take much longer to ship to the US than to Australia. Did you use regular airmail or one of the expidited shipping methods?

@onthebridge - I haven't had a chance to test those ROMs yet (still at work), but will when I get home.

@MightyJAK  - I used the cheapest possible postage option...so I'm a little surprised it arrived so soon. Having said that, everything else I've bought from EachGame in the past has arrived pretty quickly too.

I also tested a handful of AVIs on the device, and they played beautifully. So that's .MOV and .AVI that work without problems. Not sure about other formats.

Finally, I realise now that the volume buttons aren't unresponsive. It's just that the volume increments are incredibly small. Each button press makes only a very small difference.

Then what i would do if i had one is replacing the volume buttons with a mouse wheel.
How i understand it many mousewheels register one digital connection per scroll-"element".
