not sure. Best bet is to go to the raspi forums and ask in your particular distro's and/or in the more general forums IF it's happened under differing distros.

[EDIT]
best do something like this in google:
pal site:raspberrypi.org
as I've seen plenty of threads with people doing the "did you search for it? <URL>" on the official forums...
(I really do NOT like the way that they have phpBB setup there...)
[/EDIT]
Already searched for solution, no luck so far. I guess best way is to check xorg settings (as it takes over the display apparently).

[EDIT2]
Not sure if THIS is the minimal systemm that you were talking, but here is a VERY small one:
http://www.linuxsystems.it/2012/06/raspbian-wheezy-armhf-raspberry-pi-minimal-image/
wheezy hf based
[/EDIT2]
It's very possible that this is the one.
However I remember that there were also posted apt-get beginner instructions (how to get LXDE, basic apps etc)

I'd still ask in your distro's area or one of the more general forums failing that as you may just have found yourseld a genuine bug.

Do you have the latest fw? I've got this one:
Code: [Select]
Jul 14 2012 13:14:40
Copyright (c) 2012 Broadcom
version 325444 (release)
also might be worth looking through the bug tracking db to see if something's in there already maybe...

finally got framebuffer stuff working, between disabling overscan and ignore alpha(I think that this was the real fix, overscan just got me a full screen)...

Well, I took the plunge and am currently trying out the retroarch script, compile from source option which looks like it's going to take a while... maybe most of the day... just hope that it doesn't end up using gigs of "disk" space...

http://petrockblog.wordpress.com/2012/07/22/retropie-setup-an-initialization-script-for-retroarch-on-the-raspberry-pi/

Worst case: I'll just have to start all over again from scratch... and maybe I'll switch to a 16GB uSD that I have sitting right here waiting to decide who gets to use it, the raspi or the Oval Elephant(smallart uhost)...

(I still haven't gotten around to setting up distcc yet, which is why it'll be slow... the temporary area where I have everything ATM is a bit cramped and lacking in power, even with power strips I have to devote one plug for the homeplug which unfortunately wasn't one of the ones with a passthrough plug on it, but those cost twice as much for something that is possibly only temporary.)

Thanks for info. Do you know maybe if Hexxen updated his update-pi repo? (Piesces r3 I use now has Hexxen's updater included)

You mean Hexxeh?  Then secondly if you're talking about his rpi-update script, then yes.  I took a quick look at it and if the foundation doesn't change things too much it should just work. [EDIT] nm, I see that you mean his version of raspbian... dunno, as I'd never heard about it until you made me google it... [/EDIT]

The fw & kernel update are actually by the foundation/broadcomm not the distro. (IOW yes, do run rpi update if you're kernel on /boot is not August 7th and your /opt/vc/bin/bc<whateveritscalled> version is older than mine then try your disp again.  Still no work, ask hexxeh or someone not sure where though.  (This is why the foundation recommends their raspbian build... more forum support as it has it's own top-level forum v. the lesser known distros either just have a thread in the parent distro forum or are lumped in generic projects...[/EDIT]

Beyond that I haven't looked as I'm working on getting atari800, vice, and maybe frodo compiled.  atari800 compiled but I've yet to test it(will do so momentarily), but I've been looking trying to figure out the settings for vice to just have it compile the c64 emulator.

Been thinking about picking up one of those FPGA boards, e.g. c-one(c64 geared even w/a a cart port, but I never owned an actual c64 as I had an Atari 800 & Apple ][s), experiment s(STe "emulation" via FPGA implementation of hw but I want to wait for the board that can handle Falcon "emulation"), etc.

FPGAs aren't really exactly emulation as they're reconfigurable chips on which other hw can be implemented in hw... there's an FPGA extender for the  c-one so it can "emulate" an Amiga A500 as well, also has spectrum zx and a few others... but they're all pretty expensive... over $500 for c-one + FPGA extender, c. $700 for the current experiment s board and that's pretty much a bare board minimal memory, no PSU, etc. c-one also uses compact flash which I expect must be kind of expensive nowadays as I don't really know of anything that uses it any longer excepting maybe some niche products...

My bad, I meant Hexxeh

Anyway it seems I found solution- a small change in console-setup config (/etc/default/console-config) so it doesn't touch console fonts.
However after firmware update I can't set 4:3 aspect ratio, it sticks to 14:9 (strange since it should default to 4:3)
