Nes handheld emulator with AA/AAA battery support?
« on: May 26, 2017, 08:30:01 pm »
Hi, i've been away from the handheld emulators since i sold my Dingoo and now i needed one. I realized i only played nes games on it and i'm looking for a new one cheap with AA/AAA battery and rom support. Do these coolboy rs series consoles support rom loading?

GP2X is good choice. It had one of the best NES emulators ever on a retro handheld (developed by Notaz). Not a bad Megadrive emu either. Takes two AA batteries (Make sure they are re-chargeable). GP2X are old and not made anymore but they appear on ebay from time to time.

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks great but it's beyond my target budget. I guess it became a collectible item now. I'm looking for cheap Chinese brands just for the NES games like Coolbaby RS series with rom adding features.

After the searching failed, i started looking for the used handheld consoles specifically psp and ds models. DS Lite and PSP E1004 are in my target price range. Which one is more suitable for NES, GB and GBC emulation only considering the power and battery life?

I have a hacked PSP that was great for emulation.  It doesn't take AAA batteries though.  Since you are forgoing that requirement, there may be other options.  Something like this may work: https://www.amazon.com/CZT-Handheld-Consolebuild-no-repeat-Recording/dp/B071RDC8YH/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1497415391&sr=8-15&keywords=nes+gba
Or this:

There are a bunch of others around the same price range.  I've used the JXD and it was pretty decent.  One of the kids stepped on it though.

Thank you, i've tried couple of these generic "gameplayer" consoles but i didn't like the performance at all. They run those games but at an unplayable speed. Even the super mario bros game was sluggish. Is DS lite good with Genesis games? DS lite's battery life looks superior.

as far as i remember ds lite emulates megadrive fine if you dont mind the downscaling. remember that it doesnt have 320x240 resolution
