New Console
« on: March 19, 2010, 06:40:27 PM »
Ok retraction of sorts a new Console is slated for Mid May Early June from Dingoo Digital China. The things I know for sure some new emulators and apps will be on it. It will have a better lcd then the current LCD. It will be compatiable with all old apps and emulators. It will use the same Native OS with tweaks to the audio and video codec to prevent lagging.

Wouldn't a 4" screen make it the size of a psp?... For all that I'd get an open pandora.

The screen is not really the issue size wise just a non cellular but true tft lcd is what I'm after also cost no one wants to pay the cost of the pandora nor deal with all the closed source aspect of it... Have you seen the bug list of the pandora

Hell for that matter it would be nice to stay with the form factor of the Dingoo but retro-fit the ben-nano to be gamer friendly with a dpad etc and true wifi and would still be cheaper and open source...

I think it just needs better shoulder buttons. If the usb can do hostfunctions you can plugin a small keyboard. If you get full compatibility to the dingoo it would be awesome with 800mhz and more ram. :)

And what about the accu? The dingoo already got a really new kind of battery and I think TFT with 800mhz would drain the accu a lot faster.

I like the Size and Layout of the Dingoo more then a NDS or PSP or Pandora.

@dingoo-digital-usa: the specs are very nice.

My suggestions:
-AV-OUT for Dingux is the most important for me (VIDEO, S-VGA, RGB, or better HDMI?)
-Wireless LAN
-USB-Host Function (for plugin of a real Keyboard !) (this way developers can directly develop on the Dingoo)
-the same D-Pad as the Dingoo
-changeable Batteries

-800Mhz are great
-better shoulder Buttons

Maybe:
-bluethooth (for usb Keyboard)

I would like to see a built in camera on the back of the Dingoo. I take my Dingoo everywhere and most of the time I am like damn wish this thing had a camera. Then you could save your pics as wallpaper on the Dingoo. Nothing spectacular just a simple camera.

Dingoo-Digital-USA have you begun the process of working on this device?

Just trying to get ideas and move forward going to do the leg work and then take it to Dingoo-Digital China let them know this can be the A320-II model everyone wants and see what they say... If they say no then I will go it on my own with manufacturer I can find. But I need to know I will have Dingux developers and Native Developers on my side and willing to make it a reality and the community willing to buy it before I proceed. I'm guessing with everything about $120.00 to $150.00 range

Ok I have the processor I want to use not 800 MHz but it will do as it's a Dual Chip 400Mhz Ingenics so no major rewritting of Dingux would be needed...

There's no much reason for you to believe me, but the improvements of the new processor with "dual" CPU wouldn't be very visible. From the diagram the secondary processor is not described and part of the VPU, what means is part of the video decoding pipeline and not a general use CPU. A similar "dual" CPU is built in the GP2X and was pretty troublesome to make use of.

As long as all the emulators and programs on Dingux will still work without having to be rewritten, there is no doubt in my mind that I would buy one of these. I hope this becomes a reality as soon as possible. I am sure you will have many people on board once they see a prototype in production.

Some more suggestions in addition to what's already stated...

  • Keep the current dpad, but raise it a couple mm higher and make it a tad bit less mushy to improve overall gaming control (e.g., diagonals). I would do a case study on the original NES dpad as that is my favorite gamepad ever ^^.
  • I would like to reemphasize larger, better positioned, less clicky shoulder buttons!
  • Add 2 more game buttons on the right in addition to XYAB for more versatility (e.g., playing Genesis games would be more natural).
  • If we increase the screen size, try not to make it too much heavier. As this is a handheld device, a light weight (e.g., under 130 g) is pretty crucial to the prolonged enjoyment of the system in one sitting.
  • If adding Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and/or increasing internal memory to 8GB would push the price over $150, I would leave out these features (they are not as important to me as a bigger/better screen and faster processor.
  • If we add Wi-Fi, we would probably have to use a higher capacity battery. If anything, I would like to maintain or increase the battery lifespan if we can pull it off adding the new features while keeping the weight below 130 g.

Thanks!
