Kuroban Sokoban - Sokoban Game for PC and Android
« on: July 21, 2016, 12:58:37 pm »
Hello there my good old friends. I'm here just to share my new released project, a simple sokoban game for PC (Windows & Linux) and Android made with the awesome Godot Engine. If you like this kind of game, please take a look:

I just looked at this game again and it's sad it got no comments.
On the other hand though, it is not surprising.

The game looks too simplistic (even as far pixel art is concerned) and i don't know anyone on this planet who would want
to play Sokoban again because everyone here played that game a thousand time.

Plus, knowing you, i'm puzzled why you chose Godot Engine over SDL2.
I don't think there was a need for 3D acceleration here... plus this mean you can't really port it to the GCW0 or even the Pandora.
Sad...

I hope you will work on more ambitious games, here are two of my Android games programmed in C (for absolutely no reasons) :

Thanks for your comments gameblabla and I'm sorry to disappoint you  :(
Why Godot instead SDL2? Maybe because I'm getting old and just wanted to make things faster.

Good to see your games on Google Play, did you use SDL2 to create them?

See ya  :)

No problem, i'm just telling you what other people (and i) might think when they first see the game.
Sadly, having your game to be noticed on the Google Play Store is very hard and people tend to have high expectations nowadays.
One mistake and they'll discard it.
Trust me, i went there and i know them.

I guess for Android, it's fine but using a framework like Godot tend to use more resources so people might complain
of having slowdowns on their crappy phones.

And Yes, they use SDL2 and SDL2_mixer and that's pretty much it.
There are several advantages as to use SDL2 and C/C++ :
  • You can compile your games for all the supported platforms : armeabi, arm7hf, arm64, x86, x86-64, mips, mips64...
  • If there's an upgrade to Godot, it might break your game. Not an issue here at all
  • You are not dependant on Godot should any incompatibilies with a recent version of Android arise.

And so on...
It's your choice really.
Of course, what matters the most are games themselves but doing so should avoid you a lot of technical issues.
