S7800b wont switch on
« on: August 18, 2014, 11:45:28 pm »
Hello, im new here and not exactly an expert at this stuff, so I require some help.  I attempted a firmware update (using the latest stock firmware from JXD site). I used the SD card method, it recognised the update, asked me to update and I did.

I got an image of the android robot with a progress bar for about a minute then the screen went black.  I waited for a while as I thought it may just be part of the process, but now it will not turn on, or charge.
The battery was  full when I attempted the update.

Any advice? I can't get the device to respond at all.

Did you reset the device through the pin hole?

I tried pushing the reset by itself, with the volume + button short press and for several seconds in both iterations.

It does nothing.

I have tried the pinhole reset method, multiple times.

But just assume I'm stupid, in case I've missed something, can you explain to me exactly how you do the pinhole reset method, because I have been using a pin to depress the button and pushing volume + at the same time. Is there a set time I have to do this? Is there a different method? Walk me through it in case I've been doing it wrong.

Hi, new here as well.

I have the exact same problem on my 1 day old device (actually picked it up at the post office 5 hours ago, after a two week wait). Didn't even try to install a custom rom yet. I was just trying out the device, testing some games, when the screen turned black. Can't switch it on anymore. Tried rebooting with the power button + volume buttons, but nothing. The reset button doesn't help either.

Would really appreciate some help with this, surely I can't have bricked it by simply doing a recommended action? Installing updated firmware from the official page? It doesn't seem right.

Get the RK batch tool, connect to usb, Try to start with (iirc) power + vol up, see if the computer recognizes it, if so it'll ask for a driver, install it, you can use batch tool to reload the firmware if so.

So I've installed rk batch tool, I connect and get the windows sound for USB connection, then nothing.
I tried all the reset methods, sometimes I get the connection sound again, sometimes not. When I disconnect USB it makes the appropriate sound also, but nothing else ever happens.

What is going on with this thing?

Do you have RK batch tool open when you connect?
Make sure it has admin rights also.

The first square at the bottom of the program will light up when connected.

I have the batch tool running as admin when I connect the USB. Does not recognise anything. Then try power and vol + and I get the USB disconnect sound. All of the squares remain grey.

Ok I was getting ahead of myself, I manually updated the drivers through windows device manager, I'm updating the firmware with rk batch now. Let's see how that goes...

Glad it worked for you :)

Not sure about the sleep problem I think there is a "bug" in the newer units.. not sure it seems to have happen recently and i've just come back after 2 months away.

hopefully someone else can help with that.. I think there was some threads on it and IIRC weblcaw had a fix for it.
