s7800b L1 button jammed, help requested.
« on: March 21, 2014, 12:38:37 am »
What I have been fearing about this device has finally happen. A button on it has been jammed and now I have to open up the device to fix it. My worry is that since this device has no screws anywhere, I'm not fully sure how to open it up. Where do I begin? Am I remove the top first or back?

I have a Spudger if that helps.

its an absolute piece of cake.

the back panel clips off fairly easy (the darker piece of plastic).  then under that is 4 tiny crosshead screws and thats it, your in.  Its a 2 minute job if that.

Not sure if you got my message but by back panel, do you mean the back where the rear camera is located or the front where the screen is. Where should I be clipping and sliding?

Yep, where the rear camera is located.
The clips are along the edge, where the black cover and the grey case connect. Just push them with a credit card and lift.

I did what you said, but after removing the 7 screws. I can't seem to remove or slide out anything else.

If you have removed 7 screws then you have removed 3 too many.  Your only taking out two and the top and two at the bottom.  These are the screws that hold the device together.  Take those 4 out and the device then clips apart easily from the front panel.  The other 3 screws you have taken out i assume they are holding the mainboard in or something, so put them ones back in.

I actually meant 4, I don't know why I typed 7 but yes I needed that last piece of information from you.

So from the basics down,

1. Pop off the middle back using a card or something as such.
2. Remove the 4 screws
3. Flip the system back to the front and carefully pop off the front plastic.

You can also easily disconnect the 2 traces going from the screen to the back by lifting there little handles up, which are in the back. (You can see them in the above picture)

Thanks for helping!
