It's finally here. This is a pure stock of v1.0.9 with an overclocked kernel. All other functionality is identical to original v1.0.9. Even broken root exists, which means you need to fix root upon installing firmware just like official v1.0.9.

WARNING !!! You are at risk of bricking your device should you choose to use the attached firmware & tools. You have been warned. You agree that any liability arising from the usage and/or sharing of the files below is strictly yours and may not be transferred to anyone else in this forum. Use at your own risk !!!

Alpha v0.5 Changes

- Updated Mali drivers.
- Fixed Mali clock & voltage values/tables.
- GPU clocked at 600 Mhz with all 4 cores active as initial default clock.
- Fixed init.rc values
- Updated boot.img with all necessary fixes.

Take a look at Antutu X's benchmark results and the amazing graphics quality of Asphalt 8 on Alpha v.0.5

Antutu X's Results of Alpha v0.5:

Asphalt 8's graphics quality on Alpha v0.5:

Alpha v0.4 Changes

- Successfully modified voltage tables to stabilize performance at 1,800Mhz :-D

- Battery will drain much faster to ensure stability of CPU.

I was very pleased with the results obtained.
Asphalt 8 + High Quality Graphics Settings + Forced 4x MSAA from "Developer Options" in Settings = Liquid smooth graphics.
Best of all no freezes or glitches ;-)

Alpha v0.3 Changes

- Reduced maximum speed from 1,800 Mhz to 1,704 Mhz to enhance to stability. 1,800 Mhz worked well for a short period of time until the processor heated up then throttled the speed down which caused massive lags.

- Reduced GPU speed from 798 Mhz to 600 Mhz. Again due to accelerated heating, system hangs and graphic glitches were common. Tested with Asphalt 8, immediate failure. Reduced to 600 Mhz, now runs perfectly and also enables high quality setting on Asphalt 8 as well.

- Reduced DDR2 bus speed from 677 Mhz to 400 Mhz, again to enhance stability. At 677 Mhz, system was extremely unstable, severe graphic glitches, unstable ram, loss of data, dangerous heating levels, and frequent system resets.

Speed is much better and unit is way more responsive. Awaiting your valuable feedback :-)

Alpha v0.2 Changes

- Reverted DDR2 Bus Speed back to 400 Mhz.

- Fixed voltage irregularities that caused hardware instability & battery drain.

Was able to run PPSSPP - God of War (Ghost of Sparta) @ full frame :-) and no system hangs.

Alpha v0.1 Changes:

- Overclocked CPU speed from 1,608 Mhz to 1,800 Mhz.

- Overclocked GPU speed from 600 Mhz to 798 Mhz.

- Overclocked DDR2 Bus Speed from 400 Mhz to 677 Mhz.

Side Effects:

- Massive power drain, battery would probably last for 2 hours after a full charge.

- Gradual heat up of unit as processor runs at overclocked speeds.

- Some have reported graphic glitches and system hangs.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Installation:

- Included RKbatchTool v1.7 with English Language Support.
- Included all necessary drivers.
- Simply follow the exact same steps to upgrade to JXD's Official Firmware to apply this firmware.
- You will need to Re-root after flashing firmware.
- Install SetCPU or MasterCPU to modify speeds.

This release is intended for testing purposes and is not an official release. It is still in alpha. If for whatever reason, the image fails on your device, just flash the original JXD firmware v1.0.9 to restore capped speeds and normal operation. Awaiting your valuable feedback to find a healthy balance between system speeds & hardware stability.

ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE IS FULLY CHARGED BEFORE YOU FLASH ANY FIRMWARE IMAGES

Thanks for the firmware ;)

Have you access to the sound buffer parameters etc. of the firmware to try to reduce the audio latency ? Because the audio latency is little bit high (Caustic 2 say 140ms vs s7300b 88ms)

;)

the android pops up and formats the data and cache like normal after restore with the oc'd firmware..it will then reboot to the initial JXD screen with red artifacts and XD are blusish color and it just shuts back off. i flashed using the upgrade button then tried it again with the restore button with same results going to restore back to factory and try it again and edit this post with my findings..i think my gpu cant run that speed and yours can i see this with cpu reviews on newegg where one can oc higher than the other of the same chip..oh and dont use the crappy cable that comes with it either it bsod my pc in the middle of flashing use a good one that came with your phone.. ok i restored back to stock 1.0.9 and tried again same situation this is going to be hit or miss with about 50% chance.. i say lower gpu to 750 and it should work great try though man i appreciate the effort well for my device at least.. thank you  and heres a pic of my screen.. next post i cant add it for some reason

Great job with all of this tansoftware.  But I'm curious: without the source code, how are you operating on the kernel?  Are you just hex editing the img?  Or are you using any kind of toolchain to develop this?  Thanks for your work and investigation.

Nice, Any chance you could put out a cleaned up firmware with fixes applied, and maybe some of the bloat removed?
That would be nice.

BTW in this firmware are the speeds locked at a fixed speed? or variable?

I should be getting my 78 tomorrow, I'll probably wait till the next release (I assume there is going to be another since you've seemed to be enthusiastic about tweaking the 78)

I think GPU OC'ing will bring the best bang for you buck..
Im not sure OC'ing the ram will really give much of a boost and can introduce a LOT of instability.

Anyway good work so far I look forward to see where you go from here.

Rkpatchomatic by phjanderson, a tool to patch the kernel binary, more intended for android sticks than tablets.

tansoftware, you sure GPU is overclocked? You need to change your  mali_dvfs table. Your current one is:

mali_dvfs=50,100,133,160,200,266,400

What means malimax is 400 mhz (JXd underclocks mali too).

In any case I would be extremely careful with overclock in RK3188. Android TV sticks are more stable because they are always connected to PSU, so they can assume higher voltage levels. But tablets are different...

Did you check my previuos post, tansoftware? You need to edit mali_dxfs to get true GPU overclock. You have it in int.rc.

More than 600 mhz is quite crazy in my opinion though.

It's strange, voltage tables still show old values, but GPU clocks @ 798 Mhz. But I do agree with you, GPU @ 798 Mhz is still destabilizing hardware.

Hmmm are you able to provide a version that just has the CPU clocked up to its 1800mhz rate?
I attempted to do it myself using the tools skelton mentioned however my device seemed to still think that max rate was 1607mhz >.<

So to clarify, with the stock kernel the GPU runs at 400mhz, is that correct? (that's what I understood from skelton's post).

In your first post you say you overclocked it from 600->798....shouldn't it say 400->798?

And have you determined that the GPU is being overclocked as intended? (skelton indicated you need to edit the mai_dvfs table).
