JXD S7800B - Charger
« on: December 16, 2014, 12:49:00 pm »
Hello!

Can anyone reccomend a charger for the S7800B since the original one is crap??

I know that there is a USB cable to charge, but I think that will delay the charge.

Thank you
Handhelds:

It wouldn't delay the charge if you use a 2000 mA charger, on the other hand if you use a 1000 mA it may take forever.

Oh Okay. So charging through the PC is out of the question. but if I get a usb charger of 2000 its cool right?

Ive been searching and i found this charger. it doesn't look like the best, but its something:

What I did last time was that I took the barrel plug cable and soldered it to the usb male cable. Then I get myself samsung galaxy tab original charger and then bamm! Working nicely.  ;D

Same, Hack your own cable, pair it up with a decent 2amp+ usb charger.. works fine.

DO NOT TRY TO CHARGE THIS THING OFF YOUR PC, no matter how tempting the idea might be.
Yes a proper USB implementation will have a poly fuse to protect overload.. do you really wanna chance damaging a port or usb controller on your computer?

Smaller 1amp chargers will work but slower, and probably only when the device is sleeping.. However.
I tried once to run off my sisters Iphone 4 charger (the small cube chargers) charger went into thermal protection after about 15mins.. hot as HELL.

My current setup is a old 36watt laptop PSU -> CigSocket -> Car Charger -> hack cord -> 7800
Not the most elequent setup but it cost me a grand total of 1.55 and a bit of time.. and provides all the nice clean power I need.

What's the problem with the original one?

Mine recharges in less then 3 hours from 0 to 100. The shitty thing is the battery that doesn't last when playing.

Well it's safety certification is surely bogus, it gets very hot,  when the 78 first came out the chargers was dying left and right, at least 1 person said they smelt something burnt, a few peoples devices stopped working about the same time the charger died.. coincidence?

It's better to go with a known good charger then to trust what's in the box, but that's just my opinion.

I charged my device exactly 1 time using the stock charger.

What I did was hack the cable off, graft it onto a usb connector and voila I can now charge it on any USB charger that can handle 2amp's.

My personal opinion is the stock charger is not safe for man nor machine.

any 5volt power source that can output 2amps or more is a potential power source.

USB chargers are preferred since they're so common, either buy a conversion cable or make your own by hacking a USB connector on the end of your charging cable (after you cut it off the charger of course)

You could potentially charge on less then 2amp but it will take longer and if the tablet is in use (screen on) at the time you may actually still end up discharging the battery while on charge.
