JXD's counter to GPD's handhelds...

Willgoo's offer is very nice. I almost want it!

However, knowing what jxd is like in terms of firmware and QC makes me hesitate a bit. Too bad. Perhaps willgoo could distinguish itself from other shops by checking its units when receiving it from factory? This could be perhaps the decisive edge from the rest of the competition. Then, reputation would build itself with time. This would mean more profit, of course.  ;D and customer increase!

Things that Willgoo people can check:

- Check if DPAD and analogs are separated and not linked like happened with 7300B. This can be checked with gamepad tester app or joystick tests. Also , check the analog range (muct be between -1 and 1)

- Check screen refresh rate. Must be 60 hz or emulation will suck. You can check it with Retroarch for instance.

- Ask JXD for kernel source. Hahaha. They won't share anything to developers, but asking is free,

Later, we will post the video for showing NDS and PSP games on it.

Skelton, we will try our best to ask the JXD for the kernel of this device.

Really curious to see how Dreamcast and PSP games run on this. Not ready to upgrade to this just yet but it would be nice to be able to run PSP games on max settings.

I genuinely loved my S7300B when I first received it; but in time the build quality let it down. The d-pad was squeeky, the small shoulder buttons sticky, and two out of three LEDs didn't work.

I'm happier with the GPD G5A, but am hoping for a new version with a better d-pad, better specs and an IPS screen.

If someone can then design a decent, elegant emulator front-end that the device can boot directly in to...I'll be totally content.

@ClawShrimp : I totally agree with you. S7300B is a  bit on the down side when compared to GPD G5A or G7 on Quality . I also want a G5A with IPS Screen and a good D Pad

I contacted JXD to see if they were interested in sharing sources or something like a legacyROM for it. They told me they have very good developers and their device is perfect according to them, so they don't want me involved.

So, bye bye JXD. (well, bye bye all, q88S will be probably the last device I work for. It's time to enjoy some free time playing with Vita and PC)

Yeah, "great developers" they have. If it wasn't by skelton's roms jxd would disappear in mediocrity just like Yinlips, and that's how they show gratitude. I just don't understand why people still support JXD when they clearly don't deserve it.

I think we need to remind ourselves that JXD's main market is China; and generally speaking the Chinese forums appear to be pretty happy with the stock ROMs JXD provides.

I think it's a mistake on their end. Your custom roms helped sell their products. I personally will not give JXD any more of my money. Still angry about receiving a RK3188-T JXD 7800B last year. I'm hoping that GPD steps up their game with a new RK3288 device that includes an IPS screen, q88S D Pad, G5/G7 analog nubs, Bluetooth and excellent button placement. They do that and I will buy a bunch of them to give as X-Mas presents. GPD also appears to be willing to work with the community which I like.

I received my s7300c in the mail yesterday. I'm a JXD newbie, but so far am very impressed with it.

I tested the screen refresh rate in retroarch multiple times and it reported 69.279HZ.

The d-pad and the left analog do not appear to be linked as I was able to use them for separate actions within the same game.

True analog worked right out of the gate for Super Mario 64. I could use the stick to walk slowly or run.

Is there anything else I should test for?

I do have one question. Should I remove the factory screen protector? I don't notice any air bubbles at all, but I can't help but wonder how the screen looks without that thick plastic covering it. If so, does anyone know how to safely remove it? I can't seem to find any edge to pull it up, and I don't want to bugger up the screen.

Also, I just used the Game Pad tester app to verify some things.

The d-pad and analog stick are not linked. All the sticks and buttons respond separately.

The analog stick range goes from -1.0 to 1.0

69 hz screen refresh rate is not good. You will be forced to use threaded video driver in Retroarch, which is not as accurate as using just vsync.

It seems JXD was right and have wonderful developers for this device..... xDDD

About as good as their hardware guys. That's why by the time I received my 1.5GHz 7300b that I ordered, it was already factory throttled to 1.2GHz. And it will not run at 1.5GHz.
